Notes removed from favorites keep coming back

I have around 30 notes marked as favorites. I trimmed this list down to 5 notes. After a couple of hours, all notes that I removed from the favorite list just reappeared magically. I removed them again. Evernote readded them again. After three cycles of arguing with Evernote, I decided to seek help in this forum. Anyone experiencing the same issue and knows how to resolve this?

Devide: MacBook Pro

OS: Catalina 10.15.3

Evernote Version: 7.14 (458265 App Store)

EDITOR: 69.3.10951 (15add1e)

Hi.  Do you have more than one device active?  Is it possible that as you delete the the items on the MB another one syncs them back in?  (There's a setting in Evernote Windows to "sync shortcuts")  Try deleting,  then syncing to 'fix' the change...

I"ll follow up on the Mac thing

In the meantime, we know the Mac data is a copy; the master data version is stored on the Evernote servers
Update the shortcuts on the server using the web version at www.evernote.com
The changes will sync to your Mac

As a matter of fact, I do. @DTLow's answer fixed the problem. Thank you for your support, too.
