Skitch not working on Mac Catalina

Hi, I saw one thread that was named "Skitch not working on Mac Catalina" but it has been closed down but I still have the issue.

Someone from EN suggest to go to security and allow Skitch to have access on Mac for screen recording. But as someone else mentioned, for not all of us does Skitch appear here at all.

What do I do? I am really missing Skitch big time.

The tip from Hannaaase to Activate Screen Recording for Skitch in System Preferences/Security & Privacy/Screen Recording works!  Thiks solved my problem when I upgraded from macOS High Sierra to macOS Catalina.  Cannot do my work with any kind pf efficiency without Skitch.

Here is what worked for me

  • Download skitch from the App Store (Not from their website)
  • Open Skitch and try taking a snapshot (At this stage the desktop snapshot should be captured)
  • Click on System Preferences from the apple icon and click on Privacy tab, under this tab, there is an option to edit screen recording settings, You should see Skitch here

I tried all I could find in support forums and the screen snap features are still unavailable. I'm on macOS Catalina 10.15.3 and the app worked fine until a week ago.

If it worked until 1 week ago: What did change ?

Are you on 10.15.3, or was it updated to 10.15.4 ? I had no issue, but maybe there happend  something in the background.

As I wrote - I'm on 10.15.3. I don't remember to do anything that might affect Skitch. It just stopped working one day :(

I also tried to use Console application to see the Skitch logs - there are messages about SSL connection being done on almost every click in the app (probably an activity tracker), but nothing that looks like a meaningful error.

Giving screen recording permissions to Skitch is the first step. After that,

it worked for me once I also gave permission to the "Skitch helper" app to record the screen.

(I am on Mac OS Big Sur with an M1 chip.)
