Popular Post blackseaer 19 Posted January 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 17, 2020 Starting from today, when hovering the mouse pointer to the top or bottom edges of the screen the note's text area automatically scrolls up or down accordingly. How to disable this "feature"? It's quite annoying to get your long note scrolled to the bottom when just want to switch to another window on the taskbar. Haven't found any abilities to disable in the settings. 14 1
Kolmir 164 Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 hi, Recently, I noticed a strange behavior. When I move my mouse up/down over a note it scrolls up/down. This is good for reading, but horrible for editing - e.g. I want to move mouse towards toolbar to edit something, but at the same time note scrolls up and I loose context... I use the newest FF and Windows. This problem occurs only in Web Evernote. No problem with/inside Google docs or Office365 online. Any ideas? 6
the2husher 3 Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 I agree. I came here to learn how to disable this. The note scrolls and I loose my place when I take the mouse to the top of the browser to change tabs or to the bottom of the screen to change apps. I prefer scrolling on my own. 1
ryokawa 1 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Me too. When I try to click the tool bar at the top of a page, it automatically scrolls up. This is annoying when I edit the page using the tool bar. I can stop this auto-scrolling by reverting the UI to the "classic version" in the settings menu, but other parts of the UI also goes back to the classic style and maybe not recommended. I am using evernote web on Windows 10 and Firefox 72.0.1 (64bits). 1
mh034 2 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 +1 this is very annoying behavior, especially since it's a new "default behavior" that I cannot disable. this does not happen if I use Tusk (which is a electron app so it's odd this is different behavior than a web client) Version: 0.23.0 Electron: 4.2.2 Chrome: 69.0.3497.128 Node: 10.11.0 V8: 6.9.427.31-electron.0 OS: Linux x64 5.3.0-26-generic 2

Yepp. I've just installed firefox on my linux laptop to verify. Exactly the same behaviour (automatic scrolling). I'm not sure this is intuitive. One thing that surprises me is that when the cursor leaves the editing window by the top or the bottom the content continues to scroll (for the web developers: onMouseLeave is either not set, or it does not cancel scrolling). This behaviour could do with a feature toggle. Btw, chrome doesn't do this at the moment (chrome evernote version 6.3.1, firefox 5.28.0) 1
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 4,252 Posted January 19, 2020 Level 5 Posted January 19, 2020 I've tested for this in Opera, and it does not happen there. But in Firefox, yes, it definitely happens, and apparently only with Evernote. So there is some kind of odd interaction going on between EN and FF. I generally don't use FF for Evernote, so it would be helpful if others who have Premium subscriptions report this directly to Evernote's tech support: https://help.evernote.com/hc/requests/new. 2
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 4,252 Posted January 19, 2020 Level 5 Posted January 19, 2020 A couple of people (including me) are discussing this in another thread. It would be helpful if you would join that too. In particular, so far three of us have experienced it in Firefox, but not in other browsers. 2 1
Kolmir 164 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 (edited) Hi, thank you guys for verification! Yep, it only happens in FF. No problems with Chrome@MacBook. @Dave-in-Decatur Good idea, thanks. I have just reported this issue to support too. EDIT I also noticed some problems with using of Arrow keys to move cursor in Web Notes - only at FF. Edited January 19, 2020 by Kolmir Update 2
labsansis 0 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 This is happening to me too. And as others said, it's been very disruptive when editing notes! I'm using Firefox 71.0 on Ubuntu.
blackseaer 19 Posted January 19, 2020 Author Posted January 19, 2020 @Dave-in-Decatur, thank You – I use Firefox as my only browser for the Desktop so didn't check with another ones.
Mustard 1 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Can confirm the same behavior on FF in MacOSX, and I share the same complaints 😠 I could imagine this being useful in certain situations, as @Kolmir noted: Quote This is good for reading, but horrible for editing... If this is feature, it may have value as a user configurable one that defaults to off. 1

Level 5 Stuhrer 265 Posted January 21, 2020 Level 5 Posted January 21, 2020 Yes, that is definitely new behavior in Firefox since a few days and I hate it! 1

Anthea 0 Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Same here while using Firefox @ Windows, no problem with Chorme @ Windows. Totally weird.
kiikki 1 Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 I'm using FireFox 72.0.2 (64-Bit), same problem here. 1
Oleg UA 3 Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Can confirm the same behaviour in Firefox on Linux. 1
rchinoy 0 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 +1 on being to disable this feature. Super annoying.
Haldun 0 Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Hello, I am a premium user. I am a freelance software developer and Ubuntu Linux + Firefox + Evernote Web are my daily drivers. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a good client on Linux (Tusk no way, sorry). First time, I noticed the problem I supposed it is a firefox or system bug then I realized that it only happens on Ubuntu. I can confirm this annoying behaviour while using Firefox 72.0.1 on Ubuntu 18.04.3. Hopefully, I instaled Chromium (open source version of Chrome) and scroll does not happen there. I'll continue to use Chromium only for EN until this bug is fixed.

We believe we've identified the root cause of the issue, and hope to have a fix implemented very soon. I'll follow-up here once the fix is live. Let me know if you have any other questions. 1 7
ever_coffee 26 Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Same here, Firefox and Linux Mint Sylvia.
AfricanGroundhog 4 Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 I'm having the same issue too, so +1.

schakraborty 2 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Has there been a fix implemented for this yet? This auto-scroll functionality really hinders productivity and forces me to use the previous version of Evernote in web (also using Firefox on Windows 10) 2
HolyK 0 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Looking for the fix as well. It is very annoying behavior.
Howard_ 0 Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 I too am having this odd behavior - using FF on two separate Windows machines. I came here to post a note for posterity. I'm hopeful I'll be notified of responses when the solution is presented.
Kolmir 164 Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Unfortunately, it looks like the time between support response and then fix implementation is veeery (too) long (again). Very annoying! 2

It's quite difficult for me to switch to the previous version of the Web client because the formatting abilities available in the new one have already been used in many notes. 1 1

I'd like to stay updated on the progress. 1
damlurker 0 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Good to know this issue has been identified. I'm new to evernote and I thought this was a design feature. Found it incredibly annoying and was trying to find a way to turn it off. 😃
tvv 0 Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 I had the same issue from over a month - notes auto scroll up or down when the mouse pointer is moved up or down. I use mozilla firefox on windows. I use very long notes and use evernote few hours a day and this is very annoying. Please fix this asap
christopher_butter 0 Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Any updates? I hope it was an accident, because if this was intentional I am worried!! Incredibly annoying! A few little tweaks and this note software will be king.
open0source 2 Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 Still waiting on a fix! <3 Anyone have workarounds in the meantime?

It's risky to mess with the scripts behind editor. As a dirty trick you can use Chrome browser instead of FF. (In Chrome you can access the newest version 6.5.0 of EvN web editor. In FF only the older one version = 5.28 is available)
saverio 2 Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Tthis morning the problem seems to have been solved, there is no more auto-scrolling here 1 1
owlbynight 0 Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Confirming the problem is solved for me as well. Thanks!

Level 5 Solution Shane D. 1,831 Posted February 20, 2020 Level 5 Solution Posted February 20, 2020 Hi All, As many of have already reported, we believe the issue with the auto-scrolling should now be fixed! Let me know if you have any other questions! 1 3

Let me know if you have any other questions! Has there been a regression? I have just started noticing this on my system. I'm using evernote web client v6.7.1 on Google chrome 79.0.3945.130 (on debian linux). Placing the mouse pointer at the top or bottom of a note text area initiates scrolling, as per the above reports. It may have been happening for a while without my noticing, as I use keyboard shortcuts mostly, so the mouse usually only traverses those regions when leaving the tab or if I'm doing formatting. Super frustrating, naturally. 1
Kolmir 164 Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Tested with Chrome 80.0, EvN 6.7.1 on macOS -> no problems with auto-scrolling, all works fine. FF and EvN 5.30 (on Windows) also OK.
Ashley Gittins 8 Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 My web client bumped to v6.8.0 a few days ago (plus I also upgraded to Chrome 80.0.3987.163) and it has been fine since. *shrugs* 1
mh034 2 Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 I am seeing this problem return in EN Web v10.5.1 (using FF 83.0).
Kevin E. 1 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 I have the problem of auto-scrolling in Android. 1
Billie 0 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Same here in Microsoft Edge and in the Evernote app. It's quite annoying when you're writing, editing or searching for a word.
