Aging notes

kenyalo

Idea

Often times people take notes with Evernote and do not intend for them to be kept forever. Sometimes these notes are only useful for a week, month, year etc.  I was thinking that Evernote should have maybe some special tags or something that could be pressed on every note that would give the note an "expiration date".  In this way when it is getting ready to expire maybe they can be automatically moved to a special notebook for review. This will give the user a chance to review the notes and delete it or change the expiration date of set it for permanent.  This would help the user eliminate a ot of useless notes that remain and clutter up the notebooks.  If I remember correctly Trello had a similar concept on aging notes in which they actually looked like old parchment as they "aged".

Date Created is an automatic note metadata field, and searchable
It's easy to identify notes "ready to expire"

>>some special tags or something

We can create are own "special tags"; also searchable
Examples: ExpireWeek1, ExpireMonth1, ExpireYear1, ...

Search documentation at https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313828
For example     tag:ExpireYear1  -created:year-1

Not sure if/when this might get implemented.  In the meantime if it is important enough you can roll your own by adding tags like !E1911, expire review November 2019.  Tag could be more granular if you like.  Create a saved search for tag:!E* and sort by tag.  This should create a list of note in review order.  Save the view if using Windows desktop.

Reasonably painless if this key to your workflow.  Juice is not worth the squeeze to me, but we all have different ways of dealing with our stuff.  FWIW.
