For instance, when you say you cannot open files, do you mean files attached to notes, or notes themselves? Are you able to see your notebooks, the notes within them, and the contents of the notes? What kind of file is it? How are you getting it into Evernote: in Evernote using File > Attach Files...; dragging from Explorer; right-clicking in Explorer, then Send To ... Evernote; or emailing?
