Does Evernote scan for viruses?

Hello

This is my first post here, so apologies if it is not quite right.

I was wondering if Evernote scans images that are added to notes for viruses, malware, etc.?

I have a couple of images in my notes and cannot remember if I scanned them before uploading.

Many thanks

Hi, and welcome to the forums! As far as I know, Evernote does not do any malware scanning. It does scan images for text and then index the text so you can search it (though it doesn't actually create text separate from the image), but I believe that's all. So if that's an issue, always scan before uploading.

Of course, that's just my limited awareness as a user. I can see that Evernote would not particularly like to get any malware onto their servers, so if someone does know of such scanning, hopefully they will chime in!

Hello

Thank you very much for replying and for the welcome!

May I ask how, if I had already uploaded the images, I would make sure the notes are clear from infection? Would deleting the images (pressing back space), be enough?

That I would not know. It's the kind of technical question that probably needs an Evernote staffer to chime in on, and while they do read the forums I don't know when/if one of them would be able to reply on this.
