(Archived) Evernote 3.0.0.550

The trouble is that I can´t really use the Beta. I´m back on 2.2 for my daily work and I just *play* with the beta for a very limited amount of time.

If the beta had more features of the 2.2 then I could use it all the time and tell more about bugs, useability etc.

These two things alone brought me back to 2.2 :

- lack of backwards compatibility - if I finally find out that 3.0 is not good for me, how do I get back to 2.2? Can I output XML and rebuild my DB in 2.2?

- problem with the tags: I cannot select all members in a hierarchy, e.g. doubleclick on the parent and see all members of the children - or at least a way to show members of tag1 OR tag2.

Currently the only way to see notes from several tags is to type in the query like:

any: tag:foo tag:bar tag:baz

The any: prefix which should go at the very beginning of the query tells Evernote to use "OR" logic between all tags.

We are planning to add UI for that later.

Each time I close the app, it minimizes the systray (which is what I want) - however, it puts up a little dialog box that tells me that Evernote is running in the background. I understand telling me that the first time but it ALWAYS tells me that. Is there a way to turn this off? I look in options and couldn't see anything.

I have to say that so far I'm impressed with version 3. I like that I can have multiple notebooks (this was one of my requests and I'm sure others as well) and the interface seems much cleaner to me than it was under 2.x.

I've been using OneNote 2007 since it was released and I really like it, except for the fact that it has no idea what CSS is and evertime you paste anything in from a web page, the formatting goes right in the crapper. Considering that even MS's site uses CSS very heavily - a lot of what I paste in gets hosed and I have to spend time formatting it. I love that I can just paste this into EverNote and it looks just like it did on my browser.

I actually read on one of the MS Onenote forums by one of the developers giving a litany of reasons why they couldn't display HTML properly. Fortunately there were about 15 people who all asked "How come EverNote can?" HA HA HA

Anyway - I'm going to keep plugging away at it, I think it could definitely give OneNote a run for their money.

One other feature I'd like to see is to have you import notes from OneNote. If I could migrate everything over, it would save me the hassle of having to copy and paste everything manually.

Seems like a bug.

Try to do the following:

- Close Evernote

- open regedit (Start > Run... > type in 'regedit' and hit Enter)

- Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EverNote\Evernote3

- Find the ShowRunningInTrayBalloon value and change it to 0

- Start Evernote again.

We have no direct means to migrate your data yet; currently there are the following options: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=5934
