jamesctaylor 9 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I use Evernote to store a lot of PDF articles and so the 'author' field is pretty useful for me. Two limitations though:1) (which I raised herehttp://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=15608) The ability to edit the author field on a batch of notes at once would save a lot of time when I upload a lot of articles by the same author and want each in a separate note.2) An auto-complete function for the author field (similar to adding tags) to save typing! This 2nd idea makes me wonder whether the best solution is to have a set of tags for authors and use those instead - that would solve both of these limitations in fact! Can anyone see any reason why best to continue to use the author field rather than tags?
engberg 89 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I guess the main advantage of the separate field is that you could put arbitrary text there without making your tag list look more busy. But if you're just using a small set of Authors, then you could definitely achieve a similar effect with tags.
jamesctaylor 9 Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 Thanks Dave - good point.Given that my author list will only grow over time, makes sense to keep authors out of tags.Batch edit and auto-complete features for the author field would therefore be extremely useful - any chance?!Many thanks.
