How do I troubleshoot search functionality issues? (Mac)

Hi All,
We occasionally receive reports from users that their search functionality isn’t working properly when searching for content inside of Evernote, or that their Spotlight search is not working properly.
If the problem is search for PDFs specifically, please see this article:
If the problem is searching text and attachments in Evernote, or using Spotlight, then please try the steps listed below:
  1. Please visit the Evernote Web Client using a web browser on a desktop computer and verify searching in Evernote Web is working as expected.
  2. If the search in Evernote Web works as expected, then rebuild the search index in the Mac client by:
    1. Hold down the OPTION key on your keyboard
    2. Click on Help in the menu bar
    3. Scroll down to Troubleshooting
    4. Select Recreate Full Text Search Index if the problem is related to searching inside Evernote
    5. Select Recreate Spotlight search index if the problem is related to searching Evernote via Spotlight. 
  3. However, If none of these suggestions help, please contact usIt's helpful to include the following in your ticket submission: 
  • A copy of your activity log
  • If searching for a specific note, provide an exported copy of that note for us to analyze
  • A description of what is happening
  • A list of all the steps you took before you contacted Evernote Support
