Annotated Document Missing

Hello,

I'm doing an online course that involves typing answers on a PDF.  I like the annotation function that Evernote offers as this satisfies my needs for doing this.

I spent a few hours the other day completing questions (annotating) but now I can't find the modified document, only the original document without my additions.

I was hoping someone may know what has happened as I don't want to repeat another few hours of work if I can help it.

I use Evernote on Mac.  Premium subscription.  I can't remember if I closed the document before my Mac went into 'Sleep' mode.  I thought everything would be autosaved if I just walked away from it.
