Unable to edit a note since the last update

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Since the last version update (6.11.2.7027 (307027) Public (CE Build ce-43.0.4829)) last week, it is no longer possible to edit or create notes. The title is accessible but not the body of the note.

When I move the mouse on the body window, sometimes the hand cursor is displayed, but sometimes not. When I click on the body, sometimes there is a change in the toolbar, for example the Bold button is marked or the font name is changed. But I have no cursor on the body window.

I'm no longer able to use the Windows application and I have to use Evernote Web to modify or create my notes. Is anybody have an idea?

I'm using Windows 10.

Thanks in advance

Hi.  I passed through that version recently,  but didn't have any problems with editing.  Two of the most basic fixes are:

  1. File > Exit Evernote & restart your system,  and
  2. uninstall / restart / reinstall the app.  Copy your Evernote databases folder to your desktop as a backup first.

If neither of those works,  you might consider stepping your version back to a previous level until 6.12 goes on general release.

Before anyone can step back, they need an earlier version to step back to ?

For that reason, I haven't accepted ANY automatic update on any program for many years.

As soon as I get the update notification, I cancel the notification and then visit the site to do a manual download. I keep several previous downloads.

I then allow the generous forum users to let me know when the bugs in the latest version have been fixed. I always feel really bad about that. Many thanks for that guys ?

That's a sound tactic if you anticipate there might be issues.  For everyone else who didn't think of that up front,  there are either Evernote's update launch posts,  which usually include a direct download link,  or a couple of specialist sites that cover older versions of Evernote (or any other app) for applicable OS's.

After reinstalling the last version, the issue is exactly the same.

I found an old downloaded version 6.1.22.2292 in my download dir and reinstalled it. Now it works again.

I keep this version and I will no longer attempt to install any evernote update... Automatic update is disabled.

Thanks to all.

Note: Each release is announced in a post, sample linked below

It"s a good idea to review the discussion so that you're aware of any changes and discovered bugs.

The post also includes a download link for the version.  For us Win/Mac users, it's easy to downgrade to a previous version.

I had the same issue. With the help of the tech support I was able to go back to any early version. I can now edit the notes, but the formatting is messed up. I use the "ToDo" check boxes on most of my lists. The check boxes show up on my phone, but cannot be see on Windows App. I have to go to my phone to fix formatting.

Since I purchased Premium mainly as a To Do solution at work, if this is not fixed soon I will cancel this pricey software and begin using one of the many other options.

It had been weeks since I brought this to Evernotes attention. Please fix!

I respectfully suggest that you mean 6.1.2.2292, which is in the list of previous versions here:

I would  be grateful if you could check whether a new window needs several clicks before it becomes "activated" so that you can see text being entered. See this post:

Thanks.

Same problem here ...  font-box shows "-apple-system" (in windows, new note nothing pasted just typed something...)

No more editing after moving around the cursor.

Windows 8, client 6.11.2.7027 (307027) Public (CE Build ce-43.0.4829)

Best regards

I frequently use Snagit to copy an image of interest and then paste into a note in evernote, using Cntrl-V.  For some reason this stopped working recently.  Text cut and paste works fine but not image.  So I tried saving the image as a jpeg.  Then inserted into note as an attachment.  It shows the image in-line (not as an attachment).  This was the result I wanted.  So if you are having a problem with paste, try this approach.

(Note I mention Snagit here as an aside -- my comment relates to any "copy" command)
