(Archived) Adding Passcodes Online?

I can only add a passcode using the Evernotes desktop application, is there a way to do so via Evernote online?

FWIW, the password you enter on the desktop application is only to sync. It does not prevent someone from being able to see your notes. Please search the board on the word 'security' if you want more info. This has been discussed. And discussed. And discussed.

For the web client, you must enter a password to access the notes, unless you tell your browser to remember it.

Oh, and there may be the option to "remember me for a week" on the web client...not sure on that. Obviously, you would not check that, if you want it to require the password each time.

I think adang001 might be referring to adding a passphrase to encrypt selected text within an Evernote note.

I checked the PDF help manual and the word passphrase is not listed. Grrrr!

Ah! Yes, I'm pretty sure I remember a thread where Dave said you can decrypt on the web client but no encrypting.

jbenson2 said it right, and thanks BurgersNFries for checking into it... I couldn't find anything myself. I really wish the web version, if not the iPad version was as potent as the desktop app.

Currently, you can only encrypt new text on Evernote for Mac or Windows, and you can read existing encrypted content on the web, iPhone, or iPad.
