Simplify and Remove Formatting Broken

Recommended Posts

Using the simplify or remove formatting functions does not work.  It will sometimes remove some of the formatting, but not all of the formatting, especially if that formatting is on the top of the page.  If there is an undesirable formatting set on the first line (large font, bold, etc) you can change that text to something else, but but the formatting is persistent and hidden until you paste something else.  That text will past with the hidden format.  The remove formatting command used to get rid of these sorts of things but hasn't now for the last few versions.  The only work around is to copy all the text from the note, create a new note and explicitly paste it as text only.

Hi.  You're exactly right - we've been arguing for a while that both commands should do exactly what they describe,  but the concept of remove formatting actually.. removing the formatting seemed a difficult one for Evernote devs to grasp.  I have some sympathy that when there are different versions of HTML plus other languages and CSS-based styles,  reformatting a web-based document might be  bit hit and miss.  But this is one of those feature-not-a-bug things that users have been asking for a while...

‘twould be nice to know the rules of simplify so as to be able to determine feature/bug, even with the vagaries of languages and styles.  ;)
