Transparent color

How can I set a specific area of a snapshot as transparent? Or replace a colour with transparent?

You should be looking at an image editor app.

Photoshop elements, photoshop and many other image editing apps will do that for you as suggested.

One of the ways I like to do is to use Excel! See below screenshot on how to do it. Once you insert an image, you select the image and select the format tab. Under the COLOR option, there is the option to set the transparent color.
