Won't underline or bold text in note

I'm new to Evernote.  I just wrote a note and wanted to underline and bold some of the text.  This feature is not working, it doesn't do anything.

I try highlighting the text and click on the underline or bold.  Nothing happens.  I also tried clicking the button first and then typing.  Nothing.

Which device/platform are you using.  Bold/underline is working for me.

Make sure you're working in the note content and not the title.

Thanks, I am on a Windows PC.  As far as I know, I'm writing the Note and not the title. I just underlined Note here and it worked.  But it's not working in my Note.

Also: I can bold and underline in my previous notebooks but not the new one I'm trying to create.  I also deleted the notebook to start it over again, but the problem remains.

This is still Amy.  Basically it's like the ability to format the text has been turned off.  I don't see any options of where that got turned off or where it could be turned on.  Thanks.
