(Archived) Bug Report: CPU usage high on web "notes" page

Recommended Posts

When using Safari 3 or Firefox 2 on OSX 10.5, the "notes" page causes the browser to use too much CPU time. It's holding at a pretty steady 15% of the CPU on my MacBook Pro (core duo). This hurts battery life for notebooks and mobile devices of course.

Generally, only pages with flash-based content (ads) cause CPU usage like this. I have just 8 notes and don't see any animations running.

We've made a few changes in the way we process thumbnails in the next service release (tonight or tomorrow). This feels a lot smoother, especially if you have a larger number of notes. Try this again on Friday (or after) and let us know if the situation has improved. If not, we'll take another crack at it.
