What would make Evernote awesome

Andreadz

Idea

I have not waded through the forums so apologies if this has been raised before. I love using Evernote (NB: I use Evernote for Business) to take notes in the 5-6 meetings I attend every day.  But I still find it cumbersome to cut key actions from my notes and put them on my Evernote to do list. What I would love is a one click button where I could select a line of text and it moves automatically into a designated to do list which is organized by the notebook in which the line of text comes from and which has the little boxes to check things off.  This would make me very happy and efficient!  If such a solution already exists and is this easy, please let me know!

Hi.  Sorry,  no shortcuts or specialisations in that way are available.  The last opinion Evernote voiced on 'to-do' applications - some considerable time ago - was that it didn't want to be "just another" one.  Most experienced users have a favored third party to-do app - I'd copy your single actions into TickTick forinstance along with a link back to the same Evernote for the background.

Since you’re posting in the Mac forum, you could look at the scripting layer built into the app https://dev.evernote.com/doc/articles/applescript.php

As users, we can implement this extract, either triggered with a click, or processing of the entire note

My preference is to extract tasks to individual notes.  I can then list these tasks with various views, for example Outstanding, Current, Project, Completed, ...
