Lag on 10.5" pro with Pencil

I have been comparing using Penultimate and OneNote on my iPad.  For whatever reason, Penultimate has enough of a lag that it's noticeable which is a bummer because I really want to use it to sync with Evernote.  What could be causing the lag?  OneNote keeps up with zero lag at all, like I'm writing on paper.
