DivineKataroshie 0
Hello ! So, I used web clipper for some of my notes in my notebook, some I did on my own, and as a result when I select some of my notes in order to print them the images are sometimes cropped weirdly on 2 separate pages, or text is literally croped in half . Is there any way to adjust the print results to what i would like it to look like ? EDIT : And some of the pictures have blank Strips like this : https://gyazo.com/fbd7a79b4cc09b29f628910ac7030b8b Link to comment

Level 5* gazumped 11,656 Posted July 22, 2017 Level 5* Share Posted July 22, 2017 Hmmn. Same setup as me. OK - excuse the detail if you already know this but: You can alter the apparent size of images in your notes by clicking on them to select, then on the blue square at the bottom right. Click and drag to resize. At full size that image fills the note and prints on a second page to my header if I print out the note. Resize it smaller (this doesn't affect the actual image file, just the display version...) and it will print out on the same page. It's possible to alter the margins via the little cog top left in print preview... ..and the content in Tools Options Printing from the main app. None of that explains your mysterious white marks - that's never happened to me in 9 years. I assumed the original doesn't look like that? Add to all the above that if you clip a web page, you will have the 'benefit' of whatever style coding is invisibly present in the note. Simplifying or Removing Formatting in the note may help to avoid some issues. I'd suggest you reclip that page and play around with the content a little - if you get the same issue, please post the URL here so we can have a look too... Link to comment

Level 5* gazumped 11,656 Posted July 22, 2017 Level 5* Share Posted July 22, 2017 I think I tracked down the original page from a quote in your text - https://diatribe.org/issues/70/adams-corner I tried a 'Simplified Article' clip (in Firefox) which seemed to work OK to get all the important content. Part of the print issue is down to the italic font, and the rest seems to be down to small and low-resolution images printing out oversize. This was an 8-page print initially, but I got it down to 5 pages with better images just by squishing the pictures as I described earlier. I used 'remove formatting' to kill the italics (could've changed the font colour maybe to indicate the difference). Evernote is never going to be a great page layout tool, but it delivers a usable output. I also tried printing the page from my browser to Adobe as a PDF document, which would have given me a 6-page document with (oddly) very few pictures. On smaller pages it would have been possible to do a screen grab to get an exact copy. The difference being - a web page is a web page: unless the author of the page is being kind, it's not designed to be printed. (Some -like photo sites- are designed not to be printable). If you come away with a usable printed version, that's a win! Link to comment

DivineKataroshie 0
@DTLow @gazumped Selecting whole article and turning Italic font to turn it on and off + simplify formatting seems to fix the issue However, what simplify formatting exactly do, how to avoid this issue, and did people know about it in the past ? It wasn't only this one article, it was also everything else I clipped. Maybe it's something with my clip settings ? Link to comment
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 3,950 Posted July 22, 2017 Level 5 Share Posted July 22, 2017 The problems with printing italics have been reported a number of times, e.g., here: It's an annoying little problem. As @gazumped says, EN is never going to be great for page layout, but they really ought to be able to do this right. Nevertheless, in the grand scale of things, it seems like a fairly minor issue (which is probably why it's not getting fixed for all these years). Link to comment
