After clipping a page successfully I open it in Desktop version, looks fine. Next day I open the same note and the text and formatting is all wrong and most of it can't be read. The web Evernote version displays it properly. This is a bug and happens fairly often. does anyone else see this and know how to fix it?

Sorry, yes Windows 10 and Evernote 6.4.2.3788

Have just updated to to 6.5.4 see if this will fix it. It doesn't.

Here's a page for example that if I clip as a full page it doesn't work http://programminghistorian.org/

But if I do it as a simplified article it works ok. Sometimes the full page option seems to work at first then gets jumbled up later on opening I think. I usually do the simplified option if I can anyway, but thought there might be a way around this.

Hi.  So I clipped the page (just) and it looks fine.  Guess I'll have to wait a day or so to see what happens later,  but there's nothing here that looks difficult.

I'd suggest you reach out to Support directly if you're a paying customer on https://help.evernote.com/hc/requests/new or tweet them if not via https://twitter.com/evernotehelps to see whether they can suggest anything useful.  As this is Windows it's pretty easy to uninstall and reinstall the app,  so I'd suggest you do that to make sure there's no issues with the software.

  • Restart your computer and close any apps that may auto start.  Open Evernote.
  • As a precaution,  check Tools > Options > General to open the Databases folder,  and then File > Exit Evernote.
  • Copy your databases folder to your desktop.  (It's a good idea to backup your database regularly anyway...)
  • Then use Control Panel to uninstall Evernote,  and restart your computer (again).
  • Go to Evernote.com,  download and reinstall Evernote.
  • Log in again with your existing user name and password

Elapsed time about 10 minutes.

Thanks. I've attached a comparison of me clipping the webpage again today, a part of the page anyway. On the left a part of the actual page and the right, my clipped version is missing several parts of text and you can see at the bottom how some of my text is garbled and overwritten like that. Worse on some webpages. I'll do a reinstall like you say and see if that helps.
