frustrating search results

I am constantly frustrated by consistent failed search results.  

For example, I just tried searching [Title:Bert] (with and without a space) and got nothing. 

I then entered [Bert] and got a list of results, only one of which included Bert in the Title field. Assuming that "Bert" might appear somewhere it the unrelated notes  I checked and found words that contained bert, as in bertram. So I put added quotes to the search string and that removed words that contained "Bert"

But I am still baffled by the "0" results in the [Title:bert] result.

Try intitle:bert, title doesn't do it.

I'm going to have to check my settings because I got no email notification with your response?
