Emailing notes with tags in subject last one missing

Recommended Posts

Good day all.  Long time Evernote user, finally seeing the light on tags vs notebooks.  So I am slowly moving into tags for whats in Evernote, but my main workflow is from email corepsondance I get.

That said, when I forward an email into Evernote, Im missing the last tag.

For example, if I forward an email and the subject is "Super important Email #tag1 #tag2 tag3 !tomorrow"

Evernote gets it, with tags Tag1, Tag2, but #tag3 shows up in the subject.  What more, sometimes NONE of the tags go through.

What am I doing wrong?

Judging by the standard help on this,  you're doing the right things - How to save email into Evernote

Can't really comment on why the third tag isn't making it - we're (mainly) users in the Forum,  not Evernote staff. Someone may need to be able to look at the way your mails are moving through the mail server to work out what happens.  You can reach out to Support directly if you're a paying customer on https://help.evernote.com/hc/requests/new or tweet them if not via https://twitter.com/evernotehelps

Just to confirm - you can't create a new tag with an email - all the tags you assign must already exist.

Wait a min...the tags have to exist?

Thats...someone odd and annoying?  Is that accurate? Thats very backwards in my opinion.  But..thats my opinion.

It is accurate.  And the sequence matters.

Well ok, thats that then.

Hmm, I would have thought it would make tags on the fly, cause, why wouldn't it?  Interesting.  I shall play.

There's a case for either way.  Some don't want to accidentally create a tag with a misspelling, some want to create a tag on the fly.  i'm in the former camp.  Though if I misspell there's some work to find it since the # is not searchable.
