(Archived) Synchronization failure

ottomatik

Idea

I upgraded to Version 1.9.0 (83438) and am running Mac OS X Version 10/6/3 and now Evernote has stopped syncing. I get the following error message:

=====

Synchronization failure

Evernote is unable to connect with the Evernote Service. This may be due to a network problem or service maintenance. Please try again later. If enabled, automatic synchronization will resume once the Service becomes available.

=====

Any tips on on how to fix?

Check to make sure that you can log in to your account on the web using Safari on that machine (not Firefox or Chrome). If that shows any errors, warnings, or dialog boxes, then there may be a networking problem with your system.

You may also want to try a reboot.

Otherwise, you can try to sync again and check: Help > Activity Log

If you're still stuck, you can open a support inquiry at the bottom of:

I fixed it -- sort of. I exported the last two weeks worth of documents to my desktop. Then I deleted them from Evernote and checked if it would sync. Yes, it did sync. I re-imported the docs on my desktop and tried syncing again. Yes, it synced.

But when I click on the tags in the left column, the docs don't show up in the main window. I can find them by entering the text of the tags in the search box though. Weird!

That still sounds like a possible local database problem. You may want to check for errors within: Help > Activity Log...

You also may still want to open a support inquiry if you're all synchronized to the web service. We may want to have you remove your local database and then resync to regenerate a clean new local Core Data database.

All of sudden during the last few weeks, I'm getting the following message: Synchronization failure Evernote is unable to connect with the Evernote Service. This may be due to a network problem or service maintenance. Please try again later. If enabled, automatic synchronization will resume once the Service becomes available.

I raised a support question some time ago, sending the log in and was directed to the forum with my use of the 'Beta' product. I'm working with the latest MAC operating system. Honestly, I did not even know the beta version of your product was on my computer.

Strangely, the Current Monthly Usage amount just changed to a much lower amount (after weeks of the Sync problem) and the total seemed to not move during the last few weeks, since the syncing problem popped up.

It looks like there may be some problem related to the beta. I'd recommend upgrading to the full new 2.0 release that came out yesterday.

If you still have problems after upgrading, then you can open a Support inquiry to help you clean up your DB from the beta artifacts, at the bottom of:

Ever since I upgraded to 2.0, I've had an issue syncing.

First, it took me over 8 hours to download data, and the syncing would freeze after about 20MB of download. I had to force quit the app countless time (and even rebooted my system quite a few times).

Now, I can't sync to the server, though anything I clip from the web shows up in my client.

I'll open a ticket, I'm sure it's a local issue.

Hi everyone,

I'm on Mac and recently upgraded to 2.0. Everything went fine and works great. I tried to setup shared notebooks from another account, so I could access them from mine. This is when I began receiving the Sync Failure messages. As suggested above, I opened the help > activity monitor while syncing and noticed one notebook kept producing the error. I turned off sharing for this notebook and tried to sync again - immediately sync started working. I went back into the 2nd account and turned sharing back on for the notebook in question, invited my 1st account again, and it was added to my account just fine this time. I can now sync correctly.

In summation, it does appear these sync failure messages are caused by a corrupt local notebook. You could even try exporting the notebook via evernote web login, deleting the notebook, syncing, then adding the notebook again.

Hope this helps someone else!

James

First, I was unable to load Evernote for Mac (1.x), getting an "unknown error" message each time. I tried to Relaunch and tried to Reset and Relaunch, but nothing worked. I trashed the database. Still nothing. Trashed the app and downloaded the latest version (2.0). Now it loads but won't sync, saying it is unable to get into the server. When I quit Evernote, the app reports and "unknown error" crash again. My data is still on the Web, but I can't get it to sync at all. I suspect it's the same old problem: No Upgrade Goes Unpunished.

I've been getting Sync Failure messages for the last month using the EN 2.0 client.

I followed the advice on this thread and checked Help > Activity Monitor. Turned out I had a note that was failing to synchronize to a shared notebook. The notebook had disappeared from my list after I'd activated sharing, I hadn't noticed. Logged into EN via Safari, turned off sharing for that notebook, and everything works again.

Good luck :o
