Add new note & sync options gone

I'm using Evernote 6.10, plenty of space left. The "add a note" and synch option have disappeared. I've rebooted my computer. No new updates are indicated. Suggestions? thanks!

Icons shouldn't disappear at random
You do have the option of customizing the toolbar
Right Click on the toolbar and select Customize
