I'd like to completely backup my Evernote installation (notes and settings) in order to restore them on another computer.

The recommended process is a clean install of the app and let the database be rebuilt from the servers.
As a downside, this also means,
- redo all the settings and customizations (as you noted)
- manually export/import local notebooks
- using your internet bandwidth and download quota

If you know what you are doing, you can:

  • Install Evernote
  • Let it download everything
  • Fully exit. File|Exit. Make sure Evernote isn't in the system tray. Make sure there are no "Evernote" exe's in Task Manager.
  • Export HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Evernote from your old PC registry, then import in your new PC.
  • Start Evernote.

If you don't know what you are doing, then, yeah, redo all settings.

Hi thank you very much for your answers !!!

I was worried about the setting part. The sync part and using bandwidth is not a problem. But I just wanted to skip the color configuration part etc... I guess as I don't know how to edit the registry, I'll have to configure it by hand. Not a big deal :)

Have a great evening
