I am not sure though I'd call something consuming 560KB of RAM bloatware. The icon has useful settings, at least for me, so I like to keep it available.
Jimmyhosen 3 Posted March 6, 2017 Author Posted March 6, 2017 I still want the systray *app* to be disabled and am thankful to be able to disable it. Thank you, Eii, for the info. When the time comes to uninstall, I can simply delete the empty pseudo-file that I created and return the filename of the original file to its original name.

I guess whichever users are interested in this will be the ones to choose whether to bother or not.

All I did was provide a solution, guys. No need to go on and on with how much you love the lack of user options. Some people like to stay in control of their personal space and take it more seriously than others. I do think bloatware is an overstatement and hiding is an OK solution. But customization options are good for users, too. Have a good time, everyone.

Jimmyhosen 3 Posted February 25, 2017 Author Posted February 25, 2017 That is exactly why toggle control should be allowed in Options. I am okay with it being on by default, but I want to turn it off.
Jimmyhosen 3 Posted February 25, 2017 Author Posted February 25, 2017 Eii, thank you! That worked great. EdH, auto-sync still works. The main problem here is not the "icon", but the extra "app" to which the icon belongs. Sorry if I was not clear on this. Systray icons typically belong to a separate app/process from the app's main process. Therefore, merely hiding the icon does not achieve the goal. In order to allow revert back to original operation in case of causing app errors... Instead of deleting "EvernoteTray.exe", I renamed it to "EvernoteTray_DISABLED.exe", then created the text file and renamed it as Eii had suggested. Seems to be working perfectly so far. The fact that the tray app/icon cannot be disabled seems to cause it to behave as pure "bloatware" in my case - which I hate. I cannot think of a single use case for myself where Evernote is not "visible" - at least not for more than 30 seconds if I happen to go to a different app's window.

The tray icons allow background syncs to happen even if EN isn't visible. Just hide the icons. I have about 20 icons in there and I only have 3-4 showing, none of which are Evernote for me either.
