Also, when notes are sorted alphabetically, those beginning with lower case letters appear after the entire alphabet of those beginning with upper case letters.  This is a change from previous versions of Evernote.  Very problematic for those of us who sort alphabetically.  Please bring back the old functionality.

Ditto! I am amazed that Development would allow this feature to be eliminated. I just spent an hour on the chat line and was astounded that I am now left with scrolling thru 200 notes or using the cumbersome search tool versus hitting one letter of the alphabet on the alphabet bar. I'd think there would be hundreds of exasperated customers screaming about this. As much as I have used and appreciated the Evernote app, this feature loss is significant and may cause me to see what alternatives are available. Am I missing something? How can this not be a big deal to people who need to find various notes several times a day?

Please bring back the alphabet on the side of a notebook in IOS. Scrolling through hundreds of notes is a pain in the behind. The Search function is not accurate and brings up more notes than necessary even when typing in the exact title.

Just upgraded to V8.0.2 and noticed in the All Notes view that the alpha index which was on the right side is gone.  This was a great feature to allow a user to go directly to that portion of the notes rather than having to do a search.

I emailed Evernote asking what happened to the "A-Z" listing on the side.  I didn't get an answer why it was no longer there, or if it was coming back.  Instead I was told that there would be made a "note that there are users who would like to see the old notebook list view for consideration of the development team."  The Evernote advisor also recommended to check out this User Forum to vote & suggest new ideas.  I'm also frustrated about having to scroll through a whole bunch of notes to check my "Walmart" list (at the end) to see if I got all my shopping items.  I've been a member since 2008, so I have ALOT of notes & use Evernote for every aspect of my life; self, family, work, & volunteer duties.  In the mean time, I might have to do a temporary fix on my own w/ or w/o Evernote.

I agree, taking away the alphabet selector bar on the right side of the screen is a downgrade. I tried search but you can't really put in partial names and find much functionality. Also, many. Items have overlapping content, so many many more notes come up in search than when I used the alphabet bar.

Let's hope that development will bring it back.

Please please please put the alphabet function back...  I use this for work and need to be able to go from one note to the next quickly...  Scrolling and/or using search is too time-consuming and cumbersome...   Please please please put it back!!!

I am finding it very difficult to use Evernote the way I organized my notes alphabetically.  I did this also:

Yes, please bring back the A-Z index on the side.

I'm a musician... I keep lyrics in Evernote...  I don't have time in between songs when I'm on stage to type words into the search

Just an idea - use a tag & shortcut for your playlist

I'm too much of a novice to this technology to know how to tag and shortcut...   The alphabet function served my needs quite well, and apparently other users too...  This is the second time they've pulled it...   They did it a few years ago then put it back....

I have been an Evernote user since 2008 and have over 5600 notes. Scrolling should not take over 2 minutes to reach a note in 2008. In settings> manage tags the scrolling scrubber is available to quickly locate a specific tag, yet this same scrubber is not found on the Tag filter in the notes screen. This scrubber should also be available, like it used to be, for filtering notes by month and year.

fwiw  From the original release notes

What's coming soon:
  • Note list scrubber - ability to quickly move through long note lists

I'm not completely sure what this means

I wish there were more specific sort options. I'm not great at naming notes and even alphabetizing is rough. I don't often know what the first letter of the title of a note is. I'd like to see a custom order. Drag and drop and it's my priority.

You should give it a try. Tag the lyrics you will use with "Collection A".

Then you can tap the tag icon next to the search bar and select it. Evernote will  display only the lyrics for the concert.

Evernote Team,

I have an extensive list of companies and have bank and investment accounts, all of which have user/pw combos listed in my Evernote app. This recent update that deleted the "notebook list view" with the alphabetic index along the right side of screen has caused me a great deal of frustration. Search, tags, and shortcuts are not helpful with 530 notes to search through. If not restored, I'll be finding another app!

Add me to the list of users who want the alpha list at the side of the screen back.   Scrolling through notes is a PITA, and Search simply takes far longer than the simple alpha select used to take.  I am as befuddled as all others on why this feature was eliminated.

Please, bring back the alphabetical listing on the right. I use Evernote for song list lyrics/performance and it's a pain in the proverbial not to have the quick access to over 350 songs during performance via the alphabetical list. Bring it back

Is it a joke? I just bought a year subsription and realized that... I can not manually sort notes. Without this your app is absolutely useless for me!!! OneNote has this feature, it works well and is for free. EVERNOTE!!!! Bring an option of sorting manually notes - drag and drop.

Please explain "manually sort notes".  Evernote/IOS lists notes in alphabetical or date sequence

Is this relevent to the discussion topic - bring back the alphabet on the side of a notebook
