I will be on holiday and hopefully not connected to anything internet related (although I will have my useful travel Evernotes locally on my iPhone) - what is the best renewal advice?

Can I renew ahead of my renewal date? or Should I wait till I get back from holiday and do it then? Will the local storage on my iPhone disappear when my Premium account runs out?

I can't answer what happens on your iPhone when a subscription runs out (I don't have one), but unless you canceled your subscription should renew automatically.

If you purchased from the iPhone, then you can either renew your subscription from the iPhone before the month runs out, or else switch to a credit card to automatically renew your subscription each month or year. You can switch to a credit card payment over the web.

I don't think you'll lose any data from your iPhone if you stay offline on your vacation ... and if you do happen to go back online, you can pay at that time.
