Formatting Paintbrush

JayinToronto

Idea

I know this idea makes an appearance every once in a while. I've seen work-arounds like 'compose a note in Word and append it' --  this throws out  the baby with the bath water.

The point is to use Evernote as a basic tool. I would like to do as much as possible within Evenote. The ability to easily reproduce common formatting with something like a paintbrush is becoming as necessary as shortcut keys like Ctrl-I for italics or Ctr-V for inserting.

This  would make a very big difference.

I think the key point here is "basic tool"
As opposed to "full featured word processing tool"

So basically we can discuss what are 'basic' tools?

Good question, and I'm sure everyone has their opinions.

One limiting factor is the underlying html format.

For me, aside from basic text, I need to assemble my attachments.
I consider any other features a bonus.

I use it as my basic (and initial) note application and so far I rarely use attachments.

I can see that being a serious limitation, and explains the request for more word processing features

I'm thinking that no matter what features Evernote implements, the dedicated apps will do the job better.
Since the cost is minimal, I usually switch to dedicated apps when doing serious work
When the work is completed, I switch the attachment from native formats to pdf
