Speedie 19
Hi, Can anyone confirm this as a bug and if it has already been registered? If you do a print preview of a note, then try to do a clip screenshot, the clip does not work (it looks like it has, but no note is created). This is on EN for Windows 6.4.2.3788 (303788). Speedie 19
With the print preview window still open? For me it lets me draw my clip boundary but doesn't create a note. Without the print preview window there it works fine. Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,041 Posted November 22, 2016 Level 5* Share Posted November 22, 2016 Yep - I clipped the open print preview window - but while it works to drop a copy to my desktop (see below), it doesn't create a note! Well, fiddle! That's unusual. I ran a sync to make sure it hadn't sneakily added the copy to my online notes, and I'm viewing in All Notes, so I would have seen it added to another notebook... I believe you have a real, genuine, 100% bug - though I'm pretty certain it hasn't been registered. Why on earth would anyone want to clip a print preview of another note? Good catch though.. Speedie 19
I'll go ahead and report to Evernote. It came about because I was helping out someone who didn't know how to stop EN from showing note titles when printed. I sent them this screenshot (had to use Windows PrtScn key and paste into a note): http://www.evernote.com/l/AAQxZTD0uYNEmodPGostqf9vFxYeSaUmQ0k/ Link to comment
Level 5 Dave-in-Decatur 4,001 Posted November 25, 2016 Level 5 Share Posted November 25, 2016 First of all, thanks, @Speedie, for alerting me to the existence of the Print Preview feature, which I hadn't even known about! Second, I can confirm what you've discovered. Third, though, I'm not sure I'd call it a bug--it is a pretty unusual thing to want to do, and I don't know if any other software can do it either. Who knows what kind of conflicting subprocesses may be involved? With Win+PrtScrn available, and the estimable Windows Snipping tool, there are at least other options handy. Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,041 Posted November 26, 2016 Level 5* Share Posted November 26, 2016 Hmmn. Actually, while Evernote's screenshot feature may not work in this situation, Windows does have some easy options - it is possible to capture the active window -even if it's Print Preview - with PrtScn... http://www.howtogeek.com/226280/how-to-take-screenshots-in-windows-10/ and paste from there into your note, or save as a file (via third-party software) and attach that.
