Web capture without images

Hi.  If there aren't very many images you may be able to select blocks of text and clip or copy/ paste them into a note.  Or you could look for a 'printer-friendly version' of the page - click on any links that say 'print'.  If that tries to access your printer directly,  escape or quit out of that option.  Sometimes the mobile version of a page is useful too.  There isn't an option though (AFAIK) that will strip out all the images.

Thanks for your reply. But I would think of something more straightforward as you say that will strip out all the images. It's unfortunate that Evernote Web Clipper (or Clearly) don't provide this option (like the one provided by Print Friendly).

For example, I see no way of following your tips for a page such as this article of the New York Times : http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/31/world/europe/italy-earthquake-norcia.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=photo-spot-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0 and going to the mobile version of the page http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/10/31/world/europe/italy-earthquake-norcia.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=photo-spot-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0 doesn't change anything.

PS. By the way, I learned of a new acronym : AFAIK ! :-)

Fair point with that page - I pasted the content into a Notepad window to lose the pictures but there's a lot of editing still with picture titles etc.  I guess that's the point of apps like Print Friendly.  Since you mention it - is there any way to run the page through PF and print to PDF?  Because if so,  you only need to do that and attach the file to your note:  instant pic-free note!

PS - I'm glad to've expanded your horizons with AFAIK!  :)

Yes, it's what I get with web clipper, but I would like to strip down the page to just the text. Most of the time the images are not useful. They add some traffic charge and occupy some disk space for no reason. And it would be so simple to add this option ! :-)

I tried to add a css to Clearly options img {display:none} but that didn't change anything.

I even tried https://documentcyborg.com/ but you loose the title of the article, the name of the website, the link to the article and a lot of formating.

Yeah, as I said as close as you can get with EN, and then you have to edit out the images.  You can copy/paste to a new note from the simplified view, but then you lose the URL and the like.  EN may not be the perfect solution for your specific needs.

There are tools like Textise out there, but it adds text to represent other parts of the page, so not particularly clean either.  The Firefox add in Print Edit lets you clean up what remains fairly quickly but you have to copy the URL yourself.

Pick your poison I suppose  ;).

As a temporary conclusion (expecting some improvement from Evernote for Web Clipper), I think that the easiest way is via Print Friendly extension.
You can choose to cancel the images and copy/paste the result which display the original url in a new in Evernote.
