Password protect and encrypt local app data (not just text)

Many of us use evernote on Pcs that do not belong to them including the local app for windows.

To ensure data is protected and it is not possible to read residual data even though the user account is logged out it would be nice to be able to encrypt the data with a unique password while on that local system. Just the cached local copies.

This way if say a user no longer has access to that PC for whatever reason they can rest assured their data is safe. 

Example use cases include using a work PC or a PC belonging to somebody other than yourself.

Require the user unlock the data at login each time with a password basically.

Hi.  Don't know much about the mechanics of encryption,  but notes stored on a device that is not yours are inherently insecure anyway.  Anyone with moderate IT skills can access the database whether or not Evernote is running.  It would be necessary to encrypt a section of the storage (not usually welcomed on a third-party owned device) or to encrypt the entire note.  Saferoom do exactly that,  although at the cost of also making the data more difficult for you to access,  and (AFAIK) impossible to search.

Even that isn't totally secure because employer IT systems can record data in transit between permanent storage and the internet and government system allegedly have access to whatever they want.  The bottom line with security is that if you want to keep something confidential,  don't record it electronically.

Lots of discussion in the forums about options and preferences,  but my take would be that this is something which will not happen for some time...

Although the database isn't encrypted, it's not that readable to the average user.

Are you making use of the Evernote userid/password?

As @gazumped mentioned, are you making use of note encryption options?
