Can't reverse sort order

I'm running Evernote for Windows Mobile version 3.3 (34861) on my HTC Touch Pro2 phone. I have about 300 notes on Evernote - the first note being a "welcome to evernote".
For some unknown reason, the sort order for displaying notes on the phone has set to show the oldest note first (i.e. "welcome to Evernote") I have tried setting the viewing option - by creation date, by update but the order does not change.
I'm sure the system didn't always work like this - it is now useless on my phone (unless I remember some unique keywords from my latest note) as I have to effectively scroll down through all my notes to get to the latest one!
Any suggestions? I guess I am missing a blindingly obvious option setting.... or have missed out on an upgrade to the client software.
