#166389 Livescribe Sky - now exclusively Evernote

Resistance is futile. It's just a matter of when.

For me too...

I love my Echo pen, and I store all my notes in Evernote already.

This wifi pen is miiighty tempting...

#165731 Does posting to a topic not automatically set up following?

Posted Jeff510 on 26 October 2012 - 02:30 PM

I like being informed of when a conversation I've participated in has been updated. I don't necessarily check back all the time and can miss stuff, and don't have so much content that it overwhelms me.

I'm surprised that so many are clueless on both sides...that you can turn it on or off if you wish...

#164556 Evernote and Skitch for Windows

Posted Jeff510 on 19 October 2012 - 03:55 PM

  • Don't see the point of the 'drag me' tab which is not part of any Windows look and feel I've ever seen.  I can drag windows fine.

Just to point out in case it wasn't clear, that is not for dragging the window. When you drag that somewhere, you copy your image to that location.

Like this...in the absence of a feature to push to a service of my choosing, I can keep something like an Imgur window open over at the side or on monitor 2. I can mark up a screenshot, and drag it to the window to upload it for quick posting...like this...

#164069 Evernote and Skitch for Windows

Posted Jeff510 on 16 October 2012 - 02:26 PM

I don't mind that there is a banner identifying a Skitch file, but man, that pink is kind of a harsh color. I realize that is the traditional Skitch pink, but I'd prefer a more subdued Evernote green or something less of an affront to the eyes.

Also, beware of using "Open with" Skitch for image files. I just found out that if you do that and edit the file, and click "use" it will overwrite your original image file with a flat version of the annotated file.

Looks like the same result if I open the Skitch file from the Evernote note...

#161514 Skitch 2.0.1 is available

Posted Jeff510 on 28 September 2012 - 08:37 PM

A good start.

Alternate FTP upload is a killer feature for many though. Yeah, I know, it doesn't help Evernote to save somewhere else...but why not? How about as a Premium subscriber, I'd love to have the option to send to places other than Evernote, as there are times what I'd clip isn't intended to save in my external brain. I've paid up for the service, so it should be even a better deal for Evernote not to have to save every single thing I capture. :)

#160240 Skitch 2.0 - Mac

Posted Jeff510 on 21 September 2012 - 02:45 PM

Well, Evernote has an opportunity here to fix this and come out on the other side looking better than ever. I think most people can forgive a miscalculation, as long as they hear the users concerns and fix what's wrong, all will be better than ever. I have enormous good will toward companies that ***** up, but then do what it takes to make it right.

If not, if they try to convince us that the reduced feature shadow of a product is good enough, then there are going to be a lot of disillusioned customers.

Seriously Evernote, this is a defining opportunity to do the right thing. Trust me, there's a bigger upside down that road.

#159910 Skitch 2.0 - Mac

Posted Jeff510 on 19 September 2012 - 04:37 PM

My Mac friends are quite upset over the removal of features. A primary use was to quickly post screenshots in forums and blogs, but without the ability to share to a server and copy the link for hotlinking the picture, the function is broken.

#148768 Oh, how I wish Evernote could do this!

Posted Jeff510 on 09 July 2012 - 03:23 PM

This would be great for Evernote mobile apps in general, but since I'm primarily an Android user, it goes in the Android subforum. ;)

And I know this is a pie-in-the-sky wish, but when I saw this video, my very first thought was how incredible this would be in Evernote where I have scanned or photographed documents that I frequently read on a small device.

It takes photos of documents, and recognizes the characters so that when you zoom in so you can read, it reflows the text to the screen. Brilliant! As shown here, it's being developed by Fujifilm. I don't know if there are any existing products or technologies that do this, but it would certainly be awesome if Evernote could buy/license/develop something like this. Add this to my "dream features" list.

#126697 Search for all notes not in a notebook

Aren't all notes in some notebook, even if it's just the default notebook? Can notes exist outside notebooks?

#114978 Post your #1 Feature Request Here!!!

Posted Jeff510 on 14 December 2011 - 04:20 PM

IMO utilizing third party apps is one of the "features" of Evernote.  It's easy enough to double click the image to invoke your image editor of choice for resizing, rotating, annotating, etc.  Your editor of choice may be Photoshop while mine is Paint.  Many people chime in with "I don't want a full featured image editor, just the ability to rotate/resize/annotate/etc."  By using third party apps, EN doesn't have to reinvent the wheel or add bloat.

Well, the point of a wish list is for features I wish I had. It sure would be handy to print right from the note quickly and mail the copies where I need to send them.

Opening them in a photo editor to mess with is more than I want to mess with for a simple print out. I've got front and back images to add to a page and scale and print...why would I rather spend several minutes for something that could be done with no extra time? And I'm a computer literate and capable person. If this were my wife, she wouldn't even know where to start.

#113906 KB Spotlight: Windows Keyboard Shortcuts

Posted Jeff510 on 07 December 2011 - 09:32 PM

Feature request!

Shortcuts to change the sort view.

I tend to toggle between title, created and updated as well as reverse and regular order.

#109501 Post your #1 Feature Request Here!!!

Posted Jeff510 on 07 November 2011 - 04:41 PM

My current top feature requests:

1) Highlighting text in a note. (asked for by others as well) Sometimes I'd like to be able to highlight the area that was the main reason that I clipped a particular note.

2) Selecting a destination for Screen Captures. I use Screen Capture quite a bit, but I'm always having to go to the note after the fact to title it, assign notebooks or tags...I'd like to have the option of a popup to enter that data so it can be done at the moment.

3) Adding a Screen Capture to an existing note. Often, I take a series of captures that I'd like in one note. Currently, I have to go and copy/paste to put them in another note. I'd love to be able to specify an existing note (maybe listed by recently updated or something) to append the capture to.

#107887 Keeping track of crafty inspiration from around the web

Posted Jeff510 on 27 October 2011 - 06:09 PM

True, you have to come up with something that works for you. In this case, with stamp sets each having 4 or 5 or sometimes even a dozen keywords, making tags for them would have resulted in something like 500 tags. That's just overwhelming and not useful. With the keywords in the note, you just select the Stamp Set notebook (to limit the search to Stamp sets) and then type the keyword you're looking for in the search box....like "frog" or "snowflake" or "car" or "flower" , etc...and it returns exactly what you need.

#107690 Tip: Paperless manuals and user guides

Posted Jeff510 on 26 October 2011 - 06:01 PM

By the way, another thing I do is snap a picture of the product label with the model number/serial number info. It's often a pain to go look at that if you need it. The pic can go in this note, or as I do, in a notebook for Product label pictures.
