So Skitch was failing to sync, and I reset my password on the web site and downloaded the upgraded skitch from the App Store, all in one go. Skitch asked me for my new password the next time I started, which I gave it. It then again failed to sync. I restarted Skitch, and I got the situation shown in the image attached. (Since Skitch was frozen, I had to look up how to get screen shots). The situation is now (i) Skitch freezes instantly on startup, and can only be shut down via the Activity Monitor, (ii) reloading from the App Store, uninstalling and reinstalling, and rebooting the mac all have no effect.
