#202365 I should be on the payroll

Posted ClutterBGone on 24 April 2013 - 01:25 AM

So, I had a home inspection done today on a home my wife and I are buying. While I was waiting for the inspector to log some of the information into the computer I started asking my Realtor how she keeps track of different buyers and properties. She told me she didn't have a solid method, just used .pdfs and file folders. Well, didn't that set the stage. I told her about all the great uses for Evernote and how she could use it to organize her buyers and property listings. Starting a shared notebook per buyer and adding properties they should look at into that folder.

While I was explaining it the inspector started asking questions which I answered and even demo'd on my cell and tablet. Evernote should add me to the payroll.

I think that most of "us" on this forum are in that mode. I try and "bother" two people a day on the advantages of using Evernote. The functions of Evernote and its far reaching potential have only just started.

#198980 Windows menu "Send to" sends to random notebook

Posted ClutterBGone on 03 April 2013 - 07:23 PM

Check your tools/clipping preferences.  You can set it to the active notebook or the default notebook.

Weird, but it doesn't work. Tried changing the setting and then resetting it. Opening and closing Evernote. Rebooting the computer and still the "Send to" just sends it to whatever notebook is open at the time. If I use the web clipper or the "Add to Evernote" button in Outlook it goes to the correct folder, but "send to" does not work....

I found this in my Evernote Code folder, give this a try!

This is a tip from Evernote
For those of us who are running EN 4.x, one way to do this is to place, in the Windows SendTo folder, a shortcut to an EN auto-import folder. Make sure the import folder in EN is set to delete the source, so that the file is actually "moved in" to EN. The send to folder is located at: C:\Documents and Settings\David\SendTo\Evernote Upload

#198683 Windows menu "Send to" sends to random notebook

Posted ClutterBGone on 01 April 2013 - 06:54 PM

Brand new Evernote user and very excited to be using it, but i have been running into a problem. I have the Windows "Send to Evernote" option when I right click on a file, and it works as expected except for one thing - it imports the file into whatever Evernote notebook is open at the time in the Evernote app. I assumed that it would import to the default notebook (which I have labelled _Incoming/Unsorted) but it does not. If I use the web clipper or email to my Evernote address those things show up in the default notebook, but not if I use the "Send to" menu item. Am I missing a setting somewhere??? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Hi and welcome to the forums. You can set up one note book to receive all of your "Send to documents" Right click on the notebook you want to use and select properties, check the box "Make this my default notebook" That will do it!

#197681 Considering upgrading to paid Evernote for *one* reason... (still thinking)

Posted ClutterBGone on 26 March 2013 - 01:11 AM

Many days (months?) later, FWIW, I did it. I'm among the few, the proud, the premes. Que viva, Evernote!

Good for you! I dare anyone to suggest a better way to spend $45 a year. You will find it is the best bargain in town.

#194933 Wireless Router Connection Excellent, Ethernet Connection Poor!

Posted ClutterBGone on 12 March 2013 - 08:06 PM

Why is it when the solution is found, it seems so simple, duh!!

First, a special thank you, to Heather, GrumpyMonkey, and BurgersNFries. Your suggestions and encouragement was most welcomed.

But, a special thank you goes to the FedEx man behind the counter at our local FedEx store. It was time to return the defective router, that started this adventure. As I approached the counter he saw the name of the router on the box, and said "bad router?"

I briefly told him the problem, he indicated that he experienced a similar problem. His was a bad Ethernet port connection on the mother board of his desktop. His quick fix was to purchase a new Ethernet card, pop it into an open slot, problem solved!

Best Buy was next door with lots of Ethernet cards, again problem solved. So, if this will help someone in the future, go for it!

Warm regards to all of the great people that work for, Evernote and participate in Forums.

#194494 Evernote Won't Work on My Desktop

Posted ClutterBGone on 10 March 2013 - 08:11 PM

I have been an avid user of Evernote for about a year.  I am a premium and business member.  Evernote has stopped working on both my desktop and my laptop.  It still works on my Tablet, but when I click on the Evernote icon in the start menu of either my desktop or laptop nothing happens.  Any suggestions?

I am sure you are aware of the recent Evernote password changes that have taken place. My suggestion would be to reboot the desktop and laptop, then try logging into the desktop first and be sure you are using your "new" password. When that is completed and working, next try the laptop.

Best of luck and welcome to the forums.

#191907 How do I create an "Import Folder" in Evernote for Windows

Posted ClutterBGone on 28 February 2013 - 09:59 PM

Hi and welcome to the forums. If you click on tools don't you see these options:

Sync

Options

Clipping Preferences

Account Info

Import Folders.. <<<>>>   Just click on this and a new box opens. Now add the directory where you want the uploads to take place. Mind looks like this    C:\Evernote Upload

When completed, if you add a file to this directory it will be uploaded to your listed notebook in Evernote.

#191481 Scandrop gone?

Posted ClutterBGone on 26 February 2013 - 10:53 PM

The fine folks at office drop did something to my account to make it start working again, but then last week it would no longer sign in. I just tried their service that they now offer . You scan to them then they send it to evernote. It worked but its kind of redundant.

If there are no other option I suppose Ill try the doxie scanner but I hate to spend another $200 for a new scanner

Just use ScanSnap, you can't go wrong. It will do anything with paper you can think of and then more! I use it with Evernote everyday. No paper in my house!

#188162 Advice needed regarding best scanner for Evernote

Posted ClutterBGone on 06 February 2013 - 10:50 PM

Thanks David. Can you scan photos with that. I see a lot of talk about documents but not photos. I have a flatbed scanner for super high res (Epson) but it's not practical to digitize 40 years worth of photos.

It loves photos! I have scanned photos and paper documents together, put them through and saved the outcome as a PDF file.

#184575 How to associate on note to another?

Posted ClutterBGone on 20 January 2013 - 07:34 PM

Hello

I want to use Evernote to organize research material and I want to semantically link notes to each other. Since the Evernote dev team refuses to implement hiearchial notes, is there any way to do this?

thx

Give this a try, it will work:

Copy note linking: Get the Note Link to a note by right-clicking on the note and select Copy Note Link. Create a
New Note in your notebook or go to a note where you’d like that Note Link to go. Paste the link (it will show up as the hyperlinked title of your note) into your New Note or existing note.

#183440 Recording and sending audio?

Posted ClutterBGone on 14 January 2013 - 07:50 PM

1. Can audio be recorded directly in Evernote, that is what I was initially referring to?
2. I would like to be able to record audio directly in Evernote and share it with people through Evernote. Does that mean with a free account the audio file can not be larger that 25mb if I'm going to share it with other people?
3. Is there a limit to how many 25mb audio files I can record and share during any given time? So if I want to share one 25mb audio file per day, can I do that?

Thanks!

Give SoundEver a try. It works across all platforms and is fast and easy to use.
