iPad app use to create public links for Notebooks

Recommended Posts

Until a week and a half ago, I could use my iPad Evernote app to manage notebook sharing very well. Specifically I could create a public link for a notebook in addition to sharing it with individuals. Now I can't create public links on my iPad app and I'm afraid I'm going to lose the ability to do it with web-based platform as well. Evernote doesn't seem to have any idea when they'll be able to bring this feature back, which was lost on the latest iOS update. I use this all the time and and I am very frustrated by the loss of this feature!!

Indeed this doesn't appear to be possible on the iPad.... Pat add read these forums so will become aware of your request but you could also submit a support ticket for this feature request.

I don't know what evidence we have to suggest that we will lose the public share feature from the web or desktop clients.... Aside from the change on iPad what makes you think we'll lose it elsewhere?

As a workaround, sharing from the desktop client or the web client seems to be the best option at the moment.

Thanks for your input. Yes, I have submitted a ticket and Evernote has said that this feature, which used to be available on iOS, has been removed in the latest version. I don't have a specific reason to worry that it will be removed from other platforms, except that Evernote support doesn't seem to be able to explain why it would have been removed from the iOS version so from the outside that appears random. This feature is a key aspect of the way I use Evernote to share notebooks with multiple students, parents, and other teachers, and I don't want to have to individually share a notebook with 50 people in order to distribute materials. I definitely am using the desktop version to share, and agree that it's the best option at the moment.

Hmmm well Support staff are different from the development staff so sometimes the developers may have some motivation of their own that Support isn't aware of. In times like these it can make for a bit of mystery!

I think that public notebooks seem to be a fairly important part of Evernote's overall feature set so I can't imagine a full-blown abandonment of the feature. I'm hoping this is just a temporary thing while they figure out their iOS app.... as with most things in Evernote development, we'll just have to speak up and wait and see!
