Google Maps and tagging notes

Recommended Posts

I maintain a list of notes that contain info about infrastructure projects.  Each infrastructure project is a separate note.  I would like to goetag each note.  I find it very cumbersome to constantly enter latitude and longitude.  Is there any easier way?

Also, I would like to see all of my notes displayed on one map?  Possible?

Regards!

The Android client allows you to view your notes on a map:

  • Tap on 'Places', then tap on the little world globe icon at the top right

In the Windows client, select 'Atlas' from the left-hand bar - the most recent 3000 notes are displayed on a map.

To geotag, the Windows client is quite cumbersome with manual entry, but the Android client will geotag with your current location upon note creation (if you allow it to in the settings) or, alternatively, from note editing view, tap on the three dots and choose 'Set location', after which you can place a pin on the map.

Can't help with the Mac, iOS or other clients - sorry!

You may want to look into IdeaPlaces on iOS:

It's pretty good for visualizing notes on a map, not sure exactly how well it would meet your specific needs, but it's worth a shot. The developer is a nice guy who hangs around these forums, you could always send him a PM:

We've built IdeaPlaces to finally give all Evernote users a robust way of handling all their geo notes.

Specifically to your question in IdeaPlaces you can move notes to a different location using an Address/Places search or you can manually move the pin to a different location.

You also have a very powerful Evernote filter and supports Evernote Linked and Business notebooks.

Here is what our users are saying:

- IdeaPlaces is turning into the ultimate map and location aggregator. Probably the most practical and useful complimentary app for Evernote I have used. - Dan C.

- I travel and use IdeaPlaces for work. It is very easy to use and works well when needing to take multiple pictures at different sites. Makes remembering details for reports a breeze. - Fleet Manager

You can follow the discussion here or on the AppStore page.

Ciprian,

Founder of IdeaPlaces.
