I got myself a paid Evernote account almost entirely for the text to speech function as my a uni student thats assigned massive web articles to read. I was trying to use the text to speech function today @ http://coding.smashi...ce-of-sections/ - and it wasn't working for, nor for any other site, the icon simply keeps spinning. How do I fix this?

Also, is their a way to use the text to speech on PDFs? I'm given very long PDF files to read that I would love to somehow use text to speech on.
Thank you.

Hi bmoore,
Sorry to hear you have problem with the TTS function. I'd need to know a bit more specifics. The URL you posted works fine for me in Chrome 24.

What OS & browser version are you using?
What's the Clearly build number on your machine?
Are you signed in to Clearly? ( try logging out and then log in again, that may help set your Premium permissions...)

Latest OS for Mac and latest version of chrome.
Latest version of clearly.
I have logged out and back in and reinstalled in both Chrome and Firefox however both still will not work for me despite them having worked in the demo before.

Thx bmoore,
We'll do a set of tests and see if we can find out what the issue is.

Hi, I've recently noticed that the Clearly TTS function keeps stopping every few words when reading articles. I have to pause and hit play again to get it to resume reading. Any idea why this would be happening. I've started restarting Chrome, reinstalling the extension, clearing my cache, no luck.

TTS does requires pretty decent bandwidth to play without interruptions. I just tested it on a normal US connection and had no issues. That is most likely the issue.

If you are comfortable sharing the URL to the page you are using it on we can run tests on that. Feel free to PM it to me or post here.

I am having a similar problem. When I press the TTS icon (Evernote Clearly for Chrome, with latest Chrome version), the icon just circles forever and doesn't produce any reading. No error message.

I also have the same problem in the Opera Next version, but obviously that's an alpha version of Opera & Clearly and, clearly, may have bugs.

Help appreciated.

Patrick Nugent.

Hi Patrick,

Can you please share the URL you are trying to play with me. Feel free to send it in a PM if you prefer that. It will help me troubleshoot the issue.

Was working a month ago.  Using latest OS, latest chrome...have Comcast broadband 100mb downloads and 20mb uploads, uninstalled clearly then reinstalled and stops text to speech after a few sentences...Have been using the same website for months without a problem.  Signed out and signed in and restarted computer and still the same problem.  Even checked the activity monitor on my Mac and activity is low.  One of the URL's is as follows:  http://theeconomicco...on-of-sharknado

Any idea what the issue is?

Thanks

Similar problem recently started for me, too.

I'm an Evernote premium users, latest versions of Chrome and Clearly.  Same symptoms on Macbook Pro (latest OS) and Windows 7 64-bit (latest patches).

I was using TTS w/o issue for a couple months, then about two weeks ago, it refuses to read past the first sentence or so.  I was using TTS to help me proofread my own blog posts.

Looking forward to a resolution for this.

Thanks.

Looking into it. We can reproduce it reliably so there is a bug somewhere here.

Actually, text to speech hangs up everywhere now, after working well initially.

Chrome version: 28.0.1500.72 m

Clearly 9.3373.573.119

XP, current

Thanks

Hi - I posted on the other thread that contained the advice that the problem was fixed.  I have a new chromebook, and the recommended current version of Clearly for chrome extension.  Still not working for me with the symptoms others described above.

OK...now the speech is working, but the text doubles itself with every article.  The double lines overlap as if it is supposed to be viewed with 3-D glasses.  Any ideas or are you guys still working on it???

The latest release 9.3374.665.504 should fix the issue of duplicated text. If you get the demo / upgrade window pops up it usually means you are not signed in. Make sure you are signed in if you want to use Text To Speech.

Hope that helps.

Clearly text to speech still hanging on my chromebook.  I don't see that anything has changed as far as a fix.  I did change from default voice to the male voice, which, seriously, can that breathy female voice be any more offensive?
