Android Skitch users,

We have a new beta we'd like to get your feedback on. Version 2.0.5 is available at the following link: http://s.evernote.co...itchandroidbeta

This version contains:
  • Fixes to the way text is anchored on the page <- This will improve the way drawings render between Skitch Android and other Skitch clients.
  • Adjusted the way we scale objects <- This will improve the way drawings render between Skitch Android and other Skitch clients.
  • Added an ability to lock a tool by tapping and holding <- Tap and hold on a tool and you'll lock it so you can keep using the same tool over and over.
  • Changes to the home screen to improve use and display on tablets.
  • Optimized pen drawing <- This should improve performance on all Android devices.
  • Lots of bug fixes including more for how SD cards interact with Skitch
Please post any feedback on this beta version. Thanks!

The last couple versions of Skitch including this beta take a long time to save back to the Evernote client when a change is made like rotating a picture.

@rbboot - Can you share with us your phone model and Android OS version if you know?

The sync actually works through the Evernote client and the handoff is pretty straightforward (we pass through some data and wait for Evernote to confirm). We'll work with the Evernote Android team and determine if there is a reason for slower sync. Thanks for reporting this.

Hey all, the Android 2.0.5 beta has been updated with several more changes and new features based on user feedback.

We added in tool tips to various screens.
Changed settings for Keep Tool Active default behavior
Added a method for making moving active when an object is selected and if you immediate return to drawing then the previous tool will snap back
and more bug fixes

Hi Joe,

Finally got around to installing this version though unfortunately, I cannot use it. Every time I try and open the app, it loads the white screen, and then closes with a message stating "Unfortunately, Skitch has stopped."

(Such a useful error message, thanks Android...)

Will try rebooting, and re-installing.

Archos 80 g9, Android 4.0.4

EDIT: Reboot/Reinstall didn't work. Still get the close. Any ideas?

Scott

Did you uninstall the Play 2.0.4 version? Android doesn't always play nice with 2 versions of the same app installed. You might need to uninstall 2.0.4 to make it work.

Hi Joe,

Ok so I am a little confused :P

I checked google play, and updated skitch. I then tried installing the skitch beta again, and I now have both skitch and skitch beta installed.

Now I understand what you meant about the two different versions. Do I need to uninstall the normal release?

Thanks,

Scott

@Scott - At this point you can simply remove the beta. We have released 2.0.5 for everyone.

Android devices can be picky about how they run two different versions of the same software. We've made some changes on our side, so that going forward with future betas these challenges can be minimized. I think you ran into one of those moments where Android didn't like having both the release and beta at the same time and simply wouldn't work.

So for now, delete the beta and simply run the 2.0.5 version from the Google Play Store and everything should be fine.
