Crosshair Snapshot of menus smd hover items

I love Skitch, but it seems like the crosshair snap tool is not able to freeze pop-up menus or hover items so that you can snap them. I have a couple of other application on my Windows machine that would freeze the screen so that you get the menu you want to snap. With Skitch for mac, the menu close or opens another menu item as I move the crosshair. This is sad... makes the tool useless for me since I mainly create tutorials of software.

If there is a way.. except taking full screens and cropping, please let me know.
