Hi All,

The new beta of Evernote for Android v4.1, revision 468, is available now.

We have continued working on the navigation design and polished the slideshow view.
We have corrected the list view so it displays all the information it used to display.
We have also fixed several bugs including the white screen problem at launch and the sign-in bug.
We will continue working on polishing the UI and fixing the issues for the next days.

We also fixed the multitag selection. Could you please give it a try and tell me what you think of the experience?

Here is a list of what's new in 4.1:
- Display your notes as a list. In landscape, tap the eye icon and then switch to list. In portrait, tap to more button and then display options.
- Create indented list. When creating a new note, tap the tab up and down buttons in the toolbar to indent the bullets.
- Improved layout for note list.
- Navigation redesign. As on Phone, swipe the note list to reach the home screen, or go back to a full screen mode. Swipe the tag, notebook and place lists.
- Edit existing indented list. Change the tabulation of lists created on your phone, or other devices.
- Slideshow optimisation. Faster, simpler, we've optimised this feature to make it lighter.

Known limitations & issues
- UI needs polishing: new icons, layout (slideshow view, tile view)
- tab key on the keyboard does not work on some devices.
Please give it a try, and let us know your feedback.

Look at how to send your logs if you experience a crash.

I have installed this and it's awesome!! I have many to do lists with numbers and as much as 200 todos. Whenever I would press edit, I would always scroll up and it would take time. Now when I edit, it starts from the top. Top is where I enter the most urgent to do items. After pressing edit, it does show white screen for a little longer than before.

Installed on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Looking good.

Haven't experimented much yet, but one thing I noticed -

I normally use list view, but the first time I switched from list to grid in portrait mode the grid squares weree too big, i.e. the items at the top, bottom and sides of the portrait view ran off the screen. Switching to landscape view the grid layout was fine and then back to portrait it became fine in that mode too.
Another time switching from list view to grid in landscape mode, the grid was shown with the "squares" the right size, but with a lot of space between them. Switching display modes and backagainproduced the expected grid biew.

Might be irritating for some peopke. I don't think it's a major issue but thought I'd flag it for information.

Thanks for the feedback.
We are working on the layout and the next update will fix this problem.

When you're in either the notebook, tags, or location section, there's no way to jump directly to a list of all notes. Given that it's the most common thing I need to jump to, having a short cut for that at the top, as there is for the other three just listed, would be great!

I think i found a bug:

Photos taken with EN are allways displayed in landscape even it was taken in portait mode.
That is very uncomfortable if you make "copies" from handwritten notes i.e. while sitting in a breefing...

Great update! List view is now pretty much perfect - just what I want. As already posted, the grid view has some odd layouts (Nook Color CM7 here), but I rarely use that.

My only real wishes relate to full screen viewing on a 7" device:
  • The preview of the next few notes is (for me) completely unnecessary and only wastes space on my screen - I'd like an option to turn it off.
  • The border around a note when you open it also wastes space - I would rather it were not there, or add...
  • ...a "Default note view" setting where I could choose full screen (or not) would be great - this would address points 1-3 completely!
  • Finally, the behaviour of the "fullscreen / slideshow" button is a bit inconsistent - on a note without images it gives me one tap fullscreen - great! But on a note with images it launches the slideshow, and I have to tap twice (the "3 square" menu and "Full screen") to go full screen.
With these issues addressed the Android client would almost perfectly address my note viewing needs (I don't do so much creation/editing on mobile, so haven't really tested these functions).

Thanks! Mark

@msbentley:
1 & 2 we are working on it and have a better solution. It won't make it in this release but maybe the next one.
4 I'll have a look at this and see how we can improve the usability.

@fokus:
The problem with the snapshot is a known existing issue unrelated to this update.
We are still working on the Xoom bug.
