Love my Evernote!!

Request: think it would be easier to quickly find the "All notes" button if it had a color!!

Se attached example.

Hi trilltrall, welcome to the forum :)

So, it looks like you have the "Mac Like" favourites bar (it is more of a mac style) which I believe is the default view.

There is actually another view, that is more of a windows style. It also includes more icons than the mac one. One of which is the All Notes icon.

I guess the downside here is that you can't show specific icons, which means everything will have an icon. (except notes)

Whether or not, this helps I don't know but possibly worth looking at:

Interestingly I also have All Notes on my favourites bar, but it doesn't move so, I don't really have trouble finding it, so am wondering what makes it harder for you to find it?

Hi Scott and thanks, i'll check it out.

My main concern is that the (for me) important "All notes" button does not stand out visually.

A dash of green or red would help a lot to locate it and differentiate it from the other buttons I think.

I guess so, some colour to it may be nice, but where to stop adding colour :P

Perhaps you could move it to a more prominent place, for instance the far left. Or you could position it in a place where there is an icon next to it, allowing for you to find it easier :)

Side note, is that the Notebooks dropdown on the far left? Does that update and show which notebook you are currently in?
Mine doesn't do that, just stays on notebook...

Evernote can stop adding color after "All notes"-button has one ;)

Yes, the notebook dropdown does update on my Evernote (ver 4.5.7.7146 (258477) Public).

Since this was posted in the Windows forum, I address it from a Windows perspective.

>Tools >Options >Hot Keys
Find in Evernote: Win + Shift + F

This will always clear your search and reset to All Notes.
And if Evernote is running, it will jump from other programs straight to Evernote. (very cool!)

For my purposes, I changed it to F5. It has become second nature to me.
Some people have a conflict with F5 (browser refresh), but it has not been a problem for me over the past couple years.

In the absence of adding color/icon/whatever to the All Notes favorite, all we can do is offer workarounds:

If All Notes is so important to you, then move it to a place of better affordability. The far left side of the Favorites toolbar is a good spot.

In addition to Win+Shift+F, inside of Evernote you can also use F6 to reset the search and select All Notebooks. Easier to type than Win+Shift+F.

Easier to type than Win+Shift+F.

How could anything be easier than this? :P

EDIT: I suppose I must clarify my sarcasm. I would normally use the left shift, but I was trying to imagine how you could make the shortcut really difficult for one hand!

One keystroke rather than three! I started changing mine to F5 four years ago!

I wonder, will there be a day when we cannot add any shortcut, for fear of it overlapping another?

Enough applications, and I think it would be possible... :)

For Win+Shift, I would usually use the left shift key, not the right...

I only want this functionality when I'm inside Evernote anyways, so I use F6, always.

I have a shade of nail polish I call Evernote green. (OPI gargantuan green). I dabbed that on my hot key.
