Ok I have been trying Hello for a couple of weeks now and I REALLY want it to work but I have a couple of issues and I hope I am just not understanding something right, so please tell me how to solve these issues. I am using an iphone 4s in this case.

1: When I add someone to Hello it can take up to 24 hours before it can save them. It just sits there saying "Sending Contacts" and if the application restarts during that time I loose the contact information I just added.

2: The app does not seem to sync with my address book. Due to this I can't use Siri or sync with my laptop or Ipad.

3: I can't seem to attach an existing Note to a contact. This is amazing me, so I must be doing something wrong.

4: When I import a contact from my address book there seems like there should be a way to tell Hello to use the contacts business address as the location to keep track of but I can't find that.

So, am I missing something here folks?

Hmmm,

So is there an Ambassador for Hello that can answer my questions?

Hi,

#1 Shouldn't be happening. Changes should be saved immediately to your local store and then synchronized when network connectivity exists. There shouldn't be any loss of information. Are you using in a location with poor network connectivity? Or are you taking a lot of additional pictures? Would you mind contacting support so that we can get more detailed information in a private manner to help you resolve this?

#2 You can save from Hello to your address book manually. In the current UI is a little cramped to use but if you tap the green "i" icon at the upper right, then tap the address book icon, this will save your entry to you address book. We are looking at redesigning this soon.

#3 Attaching or "relating" existing notes to Hello is on the roadmap. However we need some coordinated effort with the other clients to make this happen. Its not a simple change but rest assured that we will add this and similar features, like relating email conversations to your Hello Profile as well.

#4 Adding from contacts isn't importing from your contacts. We don't do mass import of information in to Hello or Evernote for that matter. The thought process behind this is that we want your Evernote account to be personal and meaningful. By importing everything from one system into Evernote usually ends up with the user finding Evernote just as cluttered and meaningless as the original system.

Adding from Contacts is meant to be a one-to-one interaction. The use case is as follows:
  • You've met the person before and have stored their information in your Address book
  • You meet the person again and this time you want to remember using Hello
  • You add the person on the spot from your Address book, Hello pulls in as much information as makes sense in the Hello, recording your location as the place that you met the person this time and automatically links the Address book entry to Hello. This puts a special URL into your address book so that when you are browsing your address book and you want to remember who this person is and when you met them, you can tap on the URL and it will bring you back into Hello with this entry.
I hope this make sense. The vision for Hello is not to replace your address book 100% since there are many integrations with your address book (e.g. Outlook & other 3rd party email systems) that we would never be able to replicate or would want to replicate since many of these work well already. Think of Hello as a way to augment your address book with additional context and richness that helps you easily remember who the person is each time you meet them.

Over the next releases we will redesign the Hello interface to make your address book information more accessible and manageable within Hello so that you will not have to constantly switch apps. I hope you will enjoy the new look.

Please contact our support about #1 if this problem persists. I want to make sure your experience with Hello is the best as possible. Thanks.

So are you designing Hello to be like a personal CMS?

Hello,
I would actually like to see an option to decide if the iphone Address book will be synced or not to Hello.
I personally prefer having my Bussiness contacts (since they are thousands) separated from my iPhones proprietary address book where I have my friends and family.
I've looked for a while that kind of app that will also have a desktop version but I was never able to find.

mcehng, thanks for your responses and to ACSmartbuilding for asking the same questions I had... (!)

Keep up the good work, this has a lot of potential to be the CRM for the rest of us.

Best regards,
