Hi,

I am trying to find the string "für's" in my notes. "Für's" in German means "for it" abbreviated like "it's" for "it is".
When entering " 'für's' " in the search bar the search utility highlights all letters 's" in the text.

Does Evernote provide for searching strings containing special characters? Are there instructions on the synthax
of search commands somewhere?

Cheers and regards.

H.

If your search contains special charactars, e.g. punctuation, you should try wrapping your search string up in double quotes, for example: "für's"

The down-and-dirty scoop on Evernote's search syntax is here: http://dev.evernote....rch_grammar.php. You should be aware that some clients (e.g. Windows and Android at least) will silently add an asterix ('*') to the end of a text search string.

Hi, Thanks for your help. Looking for "für's" did work but not in a totally reliable fashion. Sometimes the notes identified did show the string in a highlighted fashion, sometimes the notes did contain the string and sometimes the notes did not contain "für's" at all. I will keep trying. Is there a a corresponding search and replace function?

Cheers.

Search and replace works inside single notes. Edit / Find and Replace / Replace Within Note. Or the shortcut, Ctrl+H.
