Who's planning a fun summer vacation and using Evernote to capture ideas, itineraries, recommendations, etc.? What are your tips for planning a vacation with Evernote?

I took a weekend trip to Atlanta a few weekends ago to visit a friend. We wanted to plan the weekend activities together and so made a shared notebook called "Hotlanta!" that we used to keep track of things we wanted to do and restaurants we wanted to try. Because we both have Premium accounts, we were able to both share and modify the notebook as we pleased (with the Free account, all notes are read only). Here is how I used Evernote for my trip:

1. Food & Activities

The notebook ended up becoming a place where we could not only jot ideas and recommendations down, but also clip articles about the must-see attractions of the city. With Activity Stream (for Mac), we could easily see when the other person had updated the notebook, check out the latest article or recommendation, and add our own comments.

2. Itineraries

There are many ways to share itineraries via Evernote. You can make lists or tables within Evernote, or you can use a third-party application like Excel to formulate a spreadsheet. You simply drag and drop the spreadsheet into a note. Once there, you can click on the "Quick Look" option to open up the spreadsheet without even needing to start Excel. To edit, just click on the spreadsheet, make changes in Excel, and then drag and drop it back.

3. Music

I didn't realize this before, but Evernote was also a great way for us to share music! We were making a 12 hour drive back from Atlanta to Houston and knew we had to plan for it with some good tunes. I wasn't sure how easy it would be for us to share songs and playlists via Evernote, but it ended up working seamlessly! Both of us are avid Spotify users and sharing songs via Evernote was as simple as dragging and dropping songs into a note. The song shows up as a link, which prompts user to open the application. From there, we could yay or nay each other's song suggestions.

Evernote really allowed me to capture all types of information and share it with my friend in our shared notebook. It really was a great way to collaborate with my friend and helped us make decisions on places to go and things to do without the need to meet face-to-face.
