(Not quite the right forum for this, I know, but I can't find a more suitable one)

Hi

I've just taken ownership of a lovely new HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer. HP provide a service they call ePrint that lets (among other things) 3rd parties offer apps that can interact directly with supported HP printers, so for example there's an app that lets one scan a document and upload it straight to their Google Docs account.

My question is whether you have any plans to offer an Evernote app for this device? I was surprised to find that it wasn't already available, given that I think you offer a similar app for a different manufacturer (Lexmark?). I have been able to set up a "Scan to Evernote" folder which will scan straight to a folder on my computer, which I've set up as an Import Folder in Evernote for Windows. This is useful, but it's not quite the same - the computer needs to be on for a start, and scans get uploaded locally, rather than directly to the web, and only when Evernote is run.

Many thanks.

If you're talking about this, then that's a Lexmark product that supports Evernote, not vice-versa. To do the same for an HP printer, I think you'd need to get HP to do it.

Oh yes, I was. That's interesting. Thanks for the info. I'd assumed they were apps that 3rd parties developed, though I must admit I haven't looked into it to any degree. I'll chase it up. (An Evernote app would be far more useful than the various Sodoku and news apps they currently offer!!)

I didn't look at the ePrint site for more than 10 seconds, but maybe you could get it to email the printed result to your Evernote account, or maybe someone else in the forums will have had experience with this service. Good luck.

Oh, that's a good point. I hadn't thought about email. I believe there is a scan to email feature. Thanks for the tip!

Meantime, I've submitted it as an idea to HP (there's a link on the ePrint site for new app ideas), complete with a link to the Lexmark app. Maybe a little competition will get them interested!

I also would love to have an HP Printer Ap for Evernote. I suspect that a Premium Evernote account would work as well, simply by setting up my evernote email address as a "scan and email" direct from the HP 8600. Nevertheless, a direct scan to evernote app would be far more efficient.

Add me to the list. I just started with Evernote and I'm trying to figure out how to get all my stuff in. Since my new HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer does scanning and has apps, it seems obvious that this would be a good fit. I'll post a note on the HP site as NDench suggested.

If you have the HP Officejet Pro 8600 PLUS printer, you can send your print-jobs to your evernote-account by email. The HP Officejet Pro 8600 (without PLUS) hasn't the email-feature. So it would be a great thing if there was an Evernote-app directly in the ePrintCenter of HP...

Thanks - I do have the plus vesion and didn't realize I had that ability. I'd still like a direct app, but this is an awesome workaround. I have it set up and working now. Thanks again.

After abit of testing with Readiris and officedrop, I found that "scan to folder" on my HP LasserJet pro 200.. and then use "import folders" in Evernote gave me the best result..
