I like the idea of a more visual address book. Looks like ENHello has that covered. Here's what I don't get:

1. 4 photos? Not sure what the thinking is here. And the auto-start taking photo is quite annoying.

2. Default notebook. I think this is a new addition (and a welcomed one), too bad it doesn't work. I click on Default Encounter Notebook and all I see is an empty list. No notebooks at all.

3. More contact info. I imported a contact from my Address Book but when I click on the telephone icon to make a call, only one of the two phone numbers comes up as an option. Thinking this was a glitch I tried to email and the same thing happens. Same with the message icon. If you truly want to replace the standard contact list as Phil says, you better find a solution for this, and quick.

4. MANUAL SYNC!!!! (this goes for Evernote too) Holy cow! I see in other posts here that you have to "wait a few minutes" for the iOS to sync "because iOS doesn't allow apps to sync in the background". If iOS doesn't allow apps to run in the background, then why on earth would you allow the user to add a contact and close the app without syncing? Seems like a lot of people would close the app before allowing time to sync. I have done this on maaaaannnnyyy occasions. Give us a sync button. Give us "shake to sync'. Give us a waring before quitting. Give us something!!  I know there is a manual sync button in both EN and EN Hello, but couldn't you put it someplace a little easier to get to? Ugh.

5. Facebook, LinkedIn and Foursquare. Oh my! 'Nuff said.

I know it doesn't sound like it but I love Evernote. I just thought that a new app looking to replace the existing contact lists would have been better out of the gate.

So here's an update since my original post:

1. Still a big annoyance.

2. I am now able to see and choose a default notebook. Yay! Although the sort order of the notebooks seems to be in the order the notebooks were created, not alphabetical. to me, this kind of goes against the norm.

3. Still an issue. Also, if you really want to "replace" my traditional contact list, should you offer to import all? Just saying.

4. This seems to be a huge oversight in EN and EN Hello. I don't understand why I have to wait for the app to sync? How long? How often does it sync? Why can't I manually sync without having to navigate through so many pages?

5. Yeh, no integration with some of the most popular social networks? Especially Foursquare since it's location based. Seem it could integrate nicely when meeting someone and add that location as an encounter.

I want to express again that I AM a fan of Evernote and I think I could be a fan of Evernote Hello. I am not trying to bash the Hello app, I am simply trying to help out (from my point of view) and offer some suggestions based on my own observations. I would definitely like to hear some of the thinking behind these issues.

Jeff

I'm not sure if the idea will catch on at all, well not in my circles. If the person you give the phone to is familiar with iPhone - then maybe, but many i know would find typing their details into an unfamiliar device a bit daunting.
Yes, in know I could do the typing, but then asking a stranger if you can take their photo....not sure about that.

I should try it more, might change my mind.

I really love Evernote, so after watching the EN Hello app trailer, I was very excited by the concept. I'm in social work and constantly meeting new people. I also remember better when I can tie data to visual imagery. EN Hello fits me.

I've found some problems using the app.

A. While the interface seems simple. Everyone I pass my iPhone to has difficulty inputing their contact information.

B. There were a couple instances where the person thought they filled in their information but when I got my iPhone back, a field or two was empty. So I went back in and manually completed their information. Then later when looking up their information in EN Hello, I find that my update did not save.

Overall the EN Hello concept is a good one. I'm going to continue using it with the hope that I'll improve my EN Hello process which will make inputing data by non EN Hello people easier.

Sorry for the long hiatus. We've been busy tinkering on the Android version of Evernote Hello.

We've been listening to your suggestions and have incorporated many of these into this release including a improved information entry flow and LinkedIn integration to make the process much more quick and easy. We will take these same ideas and improve on them further as well as adding even more functionality to make Evernote Hello more useful and less awkward to use in future releases of Evernote Hello for iOS.
