In case no one's noticed the global announcement, we'll be going down for about an hour this evening at around 8pm PST for a migration to newer better hardware. Apologies for the interruption.

Hi. Is there a place on the Evernote website where this is posted? I thought it was here, but i couldn't find anything.
https://www.evernote...ontact/support/

EDIT: My attempted rickroll failed. The stupid forum shows the video clip. Note to web administrator: fix this to bring back old functionality. Users ought to have more options!

Not a fan of embedded video eh? And it's not a rickroll, it's just a simple play on words :P

The forum operates independently of that feed, unfortunately. It may be something we add in the future.

I should have been more clear. I was trying to rickroll you. I have to get someone today...

Back to the news. Where is the feed for that information about the server. There is one on the site, but I don't see information there about the upcoming outage.

Heh. I don't think it's created with a hyperlink added to text, so perhaps you can try that for some hijinx. You may also be able to go in and disable the Media BBcode somehow, I haven't tried.

Like I said, this is a separate hosted service so it won't be in the normal feed. However, here's a hosted status link you can go to in case it's down: http://www.ipshosting.net/ (edit: ok, nevermind, this won't work after our migration, either)

I'd give you our server info, but that's changing in under two hours so that does you no good. I'm not sure about the info on our new home.

Just say 'no' to rickrolls... :)

And dammit...I'm hearing the Eddie Money song for the past few hours in my head... Turning on my iPod, now that I'm home.

I did not see nor receive any type of announcement, so it caught me by surprise with the "Account Suspended" notice that you have already responded to.

Where should we have seen such a notice/announcement?

I was logged in the forums earlier, and did not get any type of notice.

And even the email notice of this thread did not catch my attention because the Title, while cute and clever, is not very informative when I am scanning my busy email inbox for important msg. ;)

A lot of forums I have used have an "Announcements" forum that members can subscribe to.
That might be one option...

Yeah, I'm thinking I may opt to send an admin email in the future, so as to prevent any confusion. Live and learn. The migration actually went quite smooth, but the site you're sent to while your DNS updates was just bad form--and unexpected, and not explanatory at all.

The global announcement I was referencing above was set up on Tuesday, and appears at the top of every forum. A passive communication. I'll work on making our forum announcements more intrusive in the future. ;)

Oh, OK, never saw it.
Could be because when you click on a forum link (in email notify) it takes you directly to the post, so you never see the top of the forum. Even if I happen to go to the top, my eyes automatically filter out all the "junk" that is normally static at the top.

I appreciate you being considerate of our "space", but if there is something we need to know about, you can certainly be more intrusive as far as I'm concerned. I like the PM notify popup I get when I first visit the forum after the PM is sent. Of course others may not like the popup, but it is an user settable option.

Duly noted. Good point about users getting dropped in directly to their response in thread and missing the announcements entirely.

But you may want to check the announcements at top from time-to-time. They're regularly (every few weeks, depending on the news) changed out with semi-useful information. :)

Disappointed that Geoff's Eddie Money video completely missed the mark. This forum needs many more Eddie Money videos, many many more. Best song by far. walk on water.

I will try to check, but it is still kinda hit or miss.
What do you think about having an Announcements forum?

Fair enough. I like it. Let's you opt in, and gives me another level between passive and nuclear/email everyone in the system. Consider it on the docket and on the way.

(Jack Jones did a snappier version on his album "Lady", but I couldn't find it on YT)
