Evernote for BB 3.4.373

I cannot sign in to my evernote account with this version. Says "Authenticating..." for a while, with some apparent network activity (arrows in top right corner flickering on/off), then a message that says

"Authentication failed. Response buffer empty, no request"

In settings, it's down as Select network type: "Automatic", but I have tried the other types without success. I'm on a BB 9300, with BES. Despite BES, I haven't had any issues in previous versions of evernote (haven't used it for a while though), and no problems with any other app making connections to whatever service it requires.

Thanks.

Hello,
I'm having the same problem with Evernote, same version, but the error message was "The application Evernote has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy."
Then I updated to version v.3.5.397, but the problem persist.
Do I need to submit a TS ticket as well?
Thanks
Jaylindo

Hi, Jaylindo,
Your BES connection is blocked by your company's IT policy. Can you check to use other connection type to see if it works.
i.e.
1. go to menu\setting
2. network setting, change it to Wi-Fi, etc (or any other types show up from your phone)
Hope this help

Hi Ah_Fan,

That didn't work. I even turn off my Mobile Network connection, with the WiFi still on, yet the same error message. I tried other applications with the WiFi on only and they all worked. Also when trying to log in on evernote, I'm getting another error message after the first is cleared that "WiFi is not avalible. This when all other apps are working with WiFi only on.

Another piece of info, to help you, help me, is I am not on or using BES.

Hi, Jaylindo,
There is a newer version 3.5.400 from BlackBerry AppWorld. I recommend you to un-install the current evernote and re-install 3.5.400 from there. That build has more log information.
Repeat your steps to see if there is still issue. If so, PM me the log by doing menu/send feedback.
I will ask our Engineer to take a look
Thanks

Hello Ah_Fan,

I un-installed then re-installed 3.5.4000 and got the same error message "The application Evernote has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy."
Then after clearing the error message by clicking "ok" several times, another error message surfaced, "You are Offline"

What else can I do? I'm not getting through.

Thanks

Jaylindo

can you repeat the steps and PM me the log file (click menu/send feedback)? I would assign it to our Engineer to take a look.
Thanks

Hi All,

This problem is related to the new connection process we implemented in the latest release of Evernote for Blackberry.
In the current process, we evaluate simultaneously every available connection to select the best one. However, Blackberry prevents an app to simultaneously connect to a public and a protected private network for security reasons. If that happens, the app is blacklisted and can no longer connect.

We have corrected this process, however, if you already have the problem, you will need to uninstall Evernote and install the new update.
If you have this problem on your phone please send me a message. I will work with you to verify that this solution work for you.

Thank you.

Hello,

I have the same problem with my BB Curve 9360 with BIS and BES services activated. Now I am abroad and I have switched off the mobile data, so I use WiFI only. Here at hotel it works perfectly, both public Internet as well as BIS (e.g. BB Maps or BB App World) and BES (my corporate email) work perfectly. But Evernote still says I am offline :(

I have followed instructions and reinstalled Evernote from App World a moment ago. In the settings I have checked Wi-Fi, BIS-B, Direct TCP, kept BES/MDS unchecked. But Evernote still says "WiFi not available" or "Your are offline" :( Any idea?

Regards,
Roman

Seems I have found the solution :) I had completely switched off mobile data and this is what Evernote does not like ... When I keep it switched on, but disable mobile data in roaming, everything works perfectly ... hopefully Evernote follows BB rules and does not use mobile data in this situation :)

Well, this is of no use to me, since exactly when roaming is when I need to enable WiFi only, no data usage at all! And apparently, it needs at least something of data coverage.

Please Posted Image, FIX!!!

I have exactly the same problem. I found out the reason why: it is because I turned off the cellular data service, leaving only wifi on. I can browse internet or use other apps that need data, but Evernote keeps saying that I am offline. Once I turn back cellular data on, Evernote works. Please fix this, I love Evernote, but I do not want to buy data service..
